Asphalt Build-up on F1's

Anyone else experience this?

After a weekend autocross event, I noticed on the inside tread of my right front tire about a 2ft section of the tread was packed with asphalt. There was so much asphalt it actually extended about 1.5 inches beyond the edge of the tread.

I've pulled off as much as I can, now I'm working on removing it from the treads. I need a lift for my garage!!!

To clean tires use

Pro Blends Race Tire Cleaner, Part# 7050.

Some of the stuff you pick up at AutoX events is not asphalt but melted rubber from other people's tires.

Yep that's melted rubber alright. You can scuff it off by running hard and turning the wheel back and forth. I let a buddy of mine drive one session at Willow Springs and he was off the line and came back in with the tires coated with that crap. It took me 3 intense laps that felt like I was driving on ball bearings for it all to come off. Chuncks of rubber were flying everywhere, even in the window of the car on corners. Drive it hard.

Orrrrrr.......You can take the wheel off, get a lawn chair and sit on your patio and pick the "scabs" off. I do this sometimes with a paint scraper or screwdriver. Using the Pro Blend Race Tire Cleaner will make it easier as after an application you can just peel the "scabs" right off.
