Awesome Encounter

Well decided to go for a cruz this morning and came across 3 Porsche's.First Porsche was silver and looked like a 911 Turbo from the front, but from the back it had the big fat rear fenders with the rear wing and said Turbo on the back. The second 911 was black and looked like a earlier 911(90 something) and it said Turbo on the back also with a wing on the back. The 3rd Porsche was a Boxter S conv.Anyway the black 911 pulled out and went flying past me then the silver 911 went by also and then the boxter last,so I caught back up to see if I could get a better look at the cars. Then the silver 911(turbo) pulled out and I could see was going to do a fly by(he was catching me very fast),so I down shifted into 3rd and jumped on it for a few seconds and when I last looked back he was still catching me but not near as fast. Then all three Porsches pulled onto an off ramp and took off.I'm sure the silver turbo 911 would wax me (I'm bone stock)but its fun just to play alittle without getting to wild.Cars like Porsches I respect ,and enjoy just looking at just a taste of what they can do.Does anyone know what model the silver 911 Turbo was?I mean it looked like a 911 Turbo from the front, but it looked like a GT2 911 from the back.Maybe you can have it optioned to have a 911 turbo look like a GT2 in the rear,I don't know.Anyone?

The 996 Turbo has three air intakes in the front; two large ones on either side and a smaller wide intake in the center. If it didn't look like that in the front but said "Turbo" on the back then it was a 993 Turbo (air cooled engine).

The GT2 looks almost identical to the Turbo in the front, but has a large fixed wing in the back, and of course "GT2" on the rear engine lid.

Some Turbo owners install the GT2 wing...

The 911 C4S has the Turbo body minus the intercooler intakes behind each door, and it says C4S on the engine lid. It's rear spoiler is also different.

Porsche offers aero kits for their 911's, as do after market companies, so sometimes a car might look pretty different from stock. The good part is owners don't badge their cars with "Turbo" or "GT2" to fool people (unlike Mustang owners).

Thanks Dock,I think it was the 996 Turbo then, because it had the two inlets (one on each side) then it looked like a another inlet in the middle. All the back deck lid said was Turbo with a fixed wing. With the BIG rear fenders and fat tires it looked impressive from the back. Thanks again.

Don't be afraid of those turbo Porsches. They are wicked fast but, so are we. Just be careful with those AWD cars from a dig.
