Back to Z06 from Porsche 944 Turbo track car

So Good to be back!!!! I just have to vent to somebody so here it goes!

I bought a 944 turbo March of this year. For the past 8 months, I had a race shop build me a Huge Turbo motor with all the goodies. To make a long story short, about $25k later, the car stranded me for the 2nd time at a race track event which I spent another $1000 getting ready for with tires and entry etc......

You see, I was so spoiled racing my Z06 and winning or passing everybody in sight, that I took for granted just having to buy sticky tires to win races and have so much fun. I was getting so worried about rock chips, I thought I would go out and build some heavily modded Porsche Turbo and not worry about rock chips and having to clean the car afterwards.

So, keeping the Z06 for the street was great! But, trying to keep a turbo car running and running right has been a nightmare! Spending WAY TO MUCH than I have or had planned, I realize now my Z06 with sticky tires is an unbeatable track day experience.....and I am going on 19yrs worth.

Will you guys have me back???? I just need to know a few things about tracking my 02 Z06!

- Are there any real bolt-in seats yet with 5pt harness options?
- Are there any oil cooler kits worth getting?
- Are there any trans cooler kits worth getting?

Any other upgrades out this year will be appreciated as I am back on the winning formula of my Z06!!!!

Thanks to all who built and are responsible for such an amazing car!!!! Chevrolet Z06!!!!!!!!

I think you'll get some feedback on here from SCCA competitors (ie Subdriver) who can answer your questions.

Building and running a 944 Turbo for the racetrack sure sounds like it was expensive PITA. After all those Mods the car still might not be right, you race to win, but you also race to have fun, and breaking down is the opposite of racing fun.

The Z06 as you know is sort of already set up for the track, as much as it could be for a showroom production car anyway. Sorry you spent so much on the 944, but at least now you can feel confident that running a Z06 is the way to go, and you can post your experiences and get support and info here -- this site is really the best.

I welcome you back -- and look forward to seeing that Yellow Z06 out front wherever you run.

Welcome back! I went through a similar situation when I sold my '02 Z. I bought a Trans Am WS6 so it would be less of a headache keeping it nice. Then I got the itch for a real sports car again and bought a Viper. I finally got myself back in my current Z and coudln't be happier! Congrats to you for making it back as well!

welcome back!

Doug Rippie's oil/trans cooler is popular with the guys at the track.

I changed my Z06 seats to the corvette sport seats to accomodate my Simpson belts, but I am sure some folks will chime in on race seats you can get

The Queen knows her Z06!

Sparco makes a good seat and use a Hardbar mount. Harness bar and belt mounts, look at www.bkauto.com and is available with site sponsors.

For the money you spent, you could have pretty much bought a nice used Z.
