Just thought you guys would like to know. I followed him up onto the interstate and he proceeded to drive like an a$$hole, cutting off other drivers, etc. When I caught up to him, we were doing 70mph +/- and I was in third. He started to accellerate and I hit it. I put 2 cars on him by the end of third and hit fourth where he soon lifted. This was my first encounter with the $150000 competitor and was proud to see the Z do so well.
On a side note, these expensive car guys drive much more dangerously than most street racers. They seem to have no sense, darting in and out of cars and cutting people off. I'm always amazed how these people who have total disregard for their safety and the safety of others have been successful enough in life to own these cars. Down here, nobody drives as crazy as the Ferrari and Porsche guys.
Aside from the Vipers (especially the new ones), what will beat the Z in straight line performance for less than $250000? I can't think of anything.

Very true!

I guess you are only taking about a bone-stock car, right. If you consider modded ones, then you can get beat by almost any thing (well, not all cars but you get my drift).

I'd like to see a Porsche 911 GT2 against a Z06. I think the GT2 would probably win - and it meets your less than $250k requirement. Lets see, what else.. oh a Lotus Esprit twin turbo has a CHANCE at higher speeds... the one I test drove pulled very well on the highway. That would be an interesting race.
hmm what else...... The BMW M roadster will run low 12's with a good driver and the rev limit at 8200 like in the M3 (same motor).
Amazing... very few cars that I can think of for less than your $250k.... viper of course... I knew there was a reason I bought this car!
EDIT: I forgot one... you can get what's called an X50 package on a 911 twin turbo... for something like $17k extra which includes bigger turbos, intercoolers, etc. These are also to be respected since unlike the GT2 these bad boys are still AWD and pack ~450 hp.

Are there not quite a few people who equate the very success these folks have derived with a cut-throat demeanor -
And then they perhaps subscribe to the notion that the ONLY way to such success is in fact by being a viciously competitive cut-throat at everything they do?

Well, define "straight line performance" If you mean top speed the 911 TT even without the X50 package is faster, ~192 mph stock. 1/4 mi?, it depends on the driver/s but the Z will win given equally skilled drivers, usually.
I live in NJ and nobody ever wants to race especially, those guys in the Porsche's. Four times and never a race. Last week I pulled next to a new 911 TT at about 30mph and flored it to get his attention and he did not even look over. When we got to the light he looked for a sec and i could tell he wanted none of the z. Even worse i pulled up to a viper gts at a red light when the car only had 500 miles 2 weeks old gave the car a lot of gas and the fag looked at me and started to dial his phone. (i was f the break in period, but he did not race anyway) I find most guys with expensive cars are fags. lol I guess I should have bought a Honda at least the teenagers would want some.

Vipers? I dont think so. It certainly isn't a foregone conclusion.
I'd like to see J-ROD, Power Shifter, or Rannger go up against a stock Viper. Lets say all cars can run drag radials. Am I missing something?

What gear was he in, was it an automatic, and did he floor it?

Did he tell you what he paid for the car?

Well, most times it depends on the driver, not the car, but here are the cars (stock) that are as fast or faster (in a straight line) than the Z06, and cost less than 250K:

I experience the exact same thing. I caught up with a fancy and different looking 911 TT. When I was behind him, he floored it. I wasn't ready, but manage to get in the right gear and follow. We ran into traffic and slowed down. This idiot for some reason decided to weave in and out cutting off people trying to get away from me or something. I stayed calm and followed him until traffice cleared again. I got next to him, and gave him some gestures around 75MPH. I looked over at him, he never looked at me, but kept starred at my Z06 badge. Then suddenly, he slowed way down to about 50mph, cut over 3 lanes and got in the right lane going about 50 on an interstate highway. What an idiot......
I would love to own a 911 TT, but some of the drivers are in

dude please put the crack pipe down and step away from the car!!!!!
Uh, I ain't smoking crack. I have personally seen an M roadster with a raised rev limit (8200 rpm) run a 12.4 @ 111 at Houston Raceway Park in Baytown, TX.
Believe what you will, but don't insult me when you obviously know nothing about the abilities of the car of which I speak, you dumbass.

My uncle raced his 911 GT2 at Roebling Road and said the only car he could not take on the straights was a slightly modified Z06 (he didn't say what the mods were). They were even up to 150. The only way he was able to pass the Z was to out brake him in the corners.
I was wondering if you know for sure you were racing a TT Porsche, and what year do you think it was? The reason being, I own a 2000 Carrera 4 with the Aero Kit and 18" turbo wheels. My car is almost always misstaken for a turbo Porsche just by the way it looks. If you look at an 03 Carrera 4, they added almost everything to look like the turbo cars, except for the tail that is different. Also Porsche offers different wheel packages too.
98 and under, some none turbo cars came with turbo bodies and wheels. So the point I'm trying to make is that it's very easy to confuse the two.
To make things more confusing, I just saw a picture of a 04 yellow Porsche turbo in Autoweek with the Carrera body work
