Best Road Racing shifter??

My stock shifter in my '03 feels horrible. Much worse then my '01.
Don't like a short stubby shifter though but want something that engages well and feels right without a ton of noise,etc..

I really like my Hurst and so do all my co-drivers.

Are many of the posts about noise,etc.. off base do you think?
That's the only reason I wasn't going straight to them.
How much shorter is handle and throw then stock?

Hurst works great. I like the softer spring adjustment. I have no noise at all. I never thought I would like a shifter but it was great. I put a Hardbar knob which you shift by using the sides of it.

The Hurst is about an inch shorter than stock, and the throws are much shorter. I have never had a noise problem with mine, and I didn't do any of the mods to quiet it down.
I made my own knob from a billiard ball, and I think that helps keep it quiet. I installed mine with the softest set of springs.
IMO, great mod, and can be bought brand new off ebay for
around $160 including freight. HTH, Jim L.

I put the Hurst in mine with the standard spring. Love it! Guess I was lucky, no rattle.

I've tried Hurst, B&M Ripper, and Kirban, and I like the Kirban the best. The other two are too stiff with a factory or any other relatively short knob. I use a Hardbar Delrin shift knob on the Kirban for my road course driving and wouldn't trade it for anything.

Interestingly, I began using a Kirban in 2000 when none of the others were out yet. When the B&M came out, I tried it and didn't like it. Then I tried Hurst when it came out, and it was the stiffest of all. I went back to Kirban in 2003 or 2004.

Just so you know, we sell all three!

I forgot you are in Raleigh.
I might have to come up there one day and try out your seat and the shifter.
I'll make sure to leave enough time to install what ever I might end out buying from you.

LOL. We don't do installs, but I'm happy to help you as a fellow track junkie, enthusiast, and friend. You might have to buy me lunch or something.

Nope, but always glad to help a buddy out. C'mon down! We'll have a mod-fest. I got parking for at least 15 cars.
