C6R ALMS Race on TV-NOW
CBS Sports channel.
Chevrolet Racing, Pratt & Miller prepared C6R team competes on the new Miller Motorsports Park course.
Can you believe 4.5 mile road course with 23 turns? It's probably the first time many of the drivers race on the new course.
What's with IMSA imposing the restrictor plate and weight penalties on the C6R? Why can't the other teams just build better cars?

they got nailed with additional weight and an air restrictor plate after this year le mans. this is how they started the season:
"Success brings rewards. In the case of Corvette Racing, the team's success in the (2005 season) 24 Hours of Le Mans and the ALMS were rewarded with a 55-kilogram (121-pound) weight increase over last season. That's in addition to the 25-kilogram (55-pound) increase mandated for all GT1 entries in 2006.
The bottom line: The new Corvette C6.Rs must weigh 1180 kilograms (2601 pounds), a 176-pound increase over last year. Consequently the yellow Corvettes are now 121 pounds heavier than their Aston Martin and Saleen competitors. Adjustments to engine intake air restrictors have also benefited Corvette Racing's rivals."
I hear that they are going to give each driver their own winner's trophy too! This is what we get for banning Tag and dodge ball in schools. This is wrong on so many levels. If the C6-Rs are a better car... then the other teams should build better - faster cars. Typical... dumb it down so no one stands apart from the crowd. An Orwellian homogeneous society.

I think that the series is structured so that teams that consistantly win either pick up weight or receive intake restrictions. This is because the various brands of cars that race are distinctly different in weight, engine size, engine location, etc. The GM Racing guys are doing a great job. If they keep on winning the C6-R will have to weigh 2 tons and have an intake the size of a dime.
the aston martin's can be competitive cars when they're not breaking. as much as i liked to see vettes win, i'd like to see vettes lose because they were beaten by superior cars, not because they were forced to weigh 200 lbs more and be restricted on power and fuel.
Here's what the Corvette Racing page had to say about it:
Quote:
As a result of performance adjustments imposed by the sanctioning body, the Corvettes went into battle with 1-mm smaller intake air restrictors, 10-liter smaller fuel tanks, and 199 more pounds than their British rivals.
Aston Martin fan boys complaining about the "advantages" the corvettes are getting, nevermind they're still 200 lbs heavier and carrying less fuel since Le Mans. all they got back for the portland race was the original 31.8mm as oppose to the 30.8mm they raced with the two previous races, of course on the AMOC site it says they also got their fuel capacity back while corvette's website still says they're down by 10 liters:
