? for Central FL drag racers on roll bars

I'm running 11's now on spray and want to add a roll bar for safety and to run a digital camcorder. I also don't want to get kicked out of the strips in our area because I don't have a 5-pt welded roll bar. I understand that NHRA requires a welded 5-pt unless I start running 9's, which won't happen. I would like to use a 4-pt bolt-in bar instead. On the nights I visit the Orlando Speedworld, I'm usually okay without a bar. I haven't been to Bradenton yet. Does anyone know if I would be able to get by with a 4-pt bolt-in in most places here in our area, even on "official" race nights? I really don't want to go past that point of no return and have a welded bar with bars because I do use the car on the street (but not quite daily driver).

Thanks.

Steve, I believe you'll be in the 10's soon. You should definitely not cut corners on this part since you haven't cut any corners on any of the other mods so far. Knowing how much you are enjoying the juice already, I would be surprised if you limit yourself to only a 100 shot. I get the feeling you will be getting bigger jets before too long. Heck, you might need a barrel in place of the those dual 75 pound bottles. I Saw you out on the street this weekend. It sounds good buddy!

Don,

Thanks for the comments. Funny you mention about the jetting. Just today we were talking about ordering an extra fuel pump and plugs to go for the 150 jets, but I think I'll stick with the 100 shot. 3.73 gears, clutch, and output shafts will go in at the same time as a roll bar. 3.73 gears are good for 135mph in 4th at 6500rpm. These gears should make me faster without having to do that 4-5 shift. The gears will also be great for autocrossing, too. I think I'll stop after that!

Oh yeah, to make a correction, they are two 15-pound bottles, not 75-pounders. About 75-90 pounds extra weight in the back, though.

5 is minimum officially and 6 is preferred. However, if you are concerned about daily driving with the 5th bar, you can get that fifth bar with a pin and pivoting the bottom so you can swing it out or just un pin it and take it off. By the way Bradenton is IHRA and you are goo to 11.49 without the bar.
