Drag Radials

It appears that the BFG 315X35X17 drag radials are back ordered EVERYWHERE....Tirerack, Discount Tire and all the local boys. I just ordered 2 wheels from Corvette Mike...17X11X50 for my 2002 Z06 and don't have any tires to put on them. Discount Tire...mail order....sells the Nitto NT-555R Drag Radial for $183. ea...no shipping charges! Anybody have any experience with the Nittos? I've heard everybody likes the BFGs. I'm high 12's bone stock and want to "get down". I have the Halltech T-1C intake on order, so I need them tires if I ever want to get into the "11 Second Club"!

HELP!!!!

BFG's have more traction, but aren't good street tires. Too soft. Treadwear 60?

Nitto's are treadwear 100, and when hot, hook pretty good. They are also good daily driver race tires.

ET Streets are the best, but only available in 16",15", etc. No 17's yet.

You can run 11's on the F1's if the track is preped and there are some "real" race cars puting "good" rubber down. McRat I beleve BFG's are 00 and nitto 140. the F1's are 220? Ric

I run Nitto DR's on my '90 Mustang as my "every day" tires. They last a LOT longer than the BFGs and when heated up (like when you do a burnout) they will hook just as well, IMHO.

They are significantly better than any real radial tire you'll find, so I'd say get them.

Thanks guys......I think I'll get the Nittos. Wonder if I have to tie the brake cables back with the wider 11" wheels?

Dave, did you try Paul Marcones at Radial Tire Co. on Brookville Rd. in Silver Spring?

I just got a new set from him last week. I ordered on Monday and he called on Thursday, mounted them on Friday and I raced on Saturday. $165.00 each plus tax.

I got BFG's 315/35/17's. This is my second set of BFG's. I had Nitto's and thought they were pretty good, but the BFG's are better at the track. They suck on the street if it's wet. The Nitto's were good on the street.

Steve, Paul has a pair of Nittos waiting for me now at Radial Tire in Silver Spring. I'm waiting for my 17" X 11" wheels on order from Corvette Mike's in CA. They're ZR1/Grandsport type wheels that fit my '02 Z06. I really am undecided between the BFGs & the Nittos. Both have their plusses and minus's. As everyone says, Nittos are better/safer on the street and have a better treadwear rating- 100, but the BFGs hook up better at the dragstrip. I guess you have to heat the Nittos up before launch and then you're OK. What's a guy to do? Will see ya at Capital in September.
