I understand there could be a problem with running the M/T ET Street with the stock Radial on the front....
Question is: How many of you have tried it and what were your results?

As long as you are going straight, and the track is flat, it's OK. Where the trouble lies, is when you must make large steering inputs. It feels like you have a flat rear tire.
With skinnies on, it is much easier to keep the car straight or correct when the ass-end wanders.
Either way is safe when the car goes straight, the difference is what happens if you must correct a slide. It could make the difference of tagging the wall or not.
BlackZ06. Guess your gonna have to wait a while longer for any input from me. Just stopped by the tuner and they can't get the old Vette wheels I bought (16") to keep from rubbing no matter how much they grind. Guess my first time at the track with the new hp will be on my DR's.
(Think I'll take the ET Streets with me to BG just in case BPP or someone has some 16" they can sell and mount for me).
Damn, I can't catch a break
A simple 5/16 spacer won't work???
Don't know what wheel you are using but i was told that with a 2000 5 spoke Firebird wheel all ya need is a 5/16" spacer
which any shop that sells the tire should have...

Hmmmmm....I'll have to ask them about that when I pick up the Z this afternoon. Never even thought of a spacer
Just called the tuner about trying it with a spacer and he said definately not. Too much load or some such thing.
Hell, it's getting so you don't know who to believe anymore
Do a search on my threads cover the ET streets. I have run them on C4 wheels, they work, and you do have to grind a bit on the fins on the back of the wheel, and flatten the balljoint cover.
Originally posted by MikesZ06 Yea, J. Those look like the same ones I bought. They said they couldn't get the balljoint covers flattened enough.
AAAArrrrrggggg
It can be done. I did it myself day before yesterday. You gotta grind down the nub on the top of the ball joint, and the two lips that go around the circumference of the joint. Its a PITA, but it can be done.

The Drag Racing Experts I have talked to say that the spacers are used all the time on the C5.
Mr. Gasket Disc Brake Wheel Spacer @ 5/16" P/N 2371.
Only around $10 a pair...
No Grinding required
The thing to remember when using ET STREETS with the stock front wheels is not to over correct. Keep ur hand firmly on the wheel pointed straight. On every shift the tail will wag but just keep the wheel locked in one position, the car will come around on it's own. If u start correcting too much the car will start to wander all over the track, this will hurt ur times. As far a wheels, I'm using 16x8 98 Camaro Z28 rims, no spacer but u do have to grind the ball joint and the control arm a bit. PITA but it's worth it. Oh another point keep the tire pressure up and check it between runs. I feel 14-16 is a safe spot, u can go lower but ur output shafts may pay the price.

Yepper...Did have to grind a little...no problem.
There was only a hair clearance between the caliper and the wheel so I did install the 5/16 spacer...now there is a hair + 5/16.
Won't get to the track till Friday to check the quarter times but they sure do stick on the street .
Unbelievable to be able to go WOT in 1st gear and not light em up. The wheels aren't very pretty but they are a work horse.
