This morning, I on-ramped onto I-95, heading south, heading to check out the auto-x event in south Miami, with my girlfriend. I see a Ferrari 456 cruise by in the fast lane, so I hold a low gear and pull up behind him. We cleared traffic and sat next to each other until we cleaned a slight right turn. As soon as we straightened out, I looked over, him and his 14ish year old son were grinning ear to ear, right about then he hit it. He pulled about 1/2 car on me and that was it...he was mine. I reeled him in with ease. We shut down around 120. I was several lengths ahead of him. Then we packed up with a SL500 and cruised traffic. We got to the end of I-95, where it turns in to US1. The SL500 was gone by then, after we each took a quick turn stomping it...it was just me and the 456, we got front row at a red light. We were both looking around to see if it would be clear. It was. The light turned green and we both kind of eased off the line, both waiting to see what the other was going to do. Then around 15mph he hit it...pulled about 2 cars on me, I hit it and started reeling him in, he grabbed a really hard 2nd. I pulled by him and as I got a finder on him, it was clear I could have pulled even further and harder from there, so we both left out. (we were moving!) We gave each other a few thumbs up and waves and he pulled into a Burger King.
Was a couple of great races. After the first kill on the highway he didn't back off and try to hide a mile or 2 back or didn't try a fly by and put me several miles back, like many exotics do after losing.
Made the long drive more fun.
Great Ferrari guy
