Finally took it to the track, Times inside

Hello All! I finally raced my car at the track for the first time to see if the mods have worked and see what it would do. I raced at SLP day in Orlando so some of you I know were there. It was ~87 degrees out and humid so I know this slowed my ET's and trap speed down. Initially I wasn't even going to race since I saw other Z06's(01's and 02/03's) trapping at 111-113, so the weather and track conditions had slowed everyone down considerably. I said what the hell and decided to race anyway though. Compared to what most other Z06's were running, I was happy with what my car was able to do.
First race I launched at 2000 rpm's and the car ended up falling on it's face off the launch, regardless, I managed
60 ft : 2.096
1/8 : 8.279
1/4 : 12.537
MPH :116.14

I felt this was decent for my first run with the given condiions but I knew the car could do considerably better with a 1.8-1.9 60' time.
Next run I attempted to launch at 3000 rpm's and I ended up spinning terribly:
60 ft : 2.226
1/8 : 8.387
1/4 : 12.620
MPH : 116.94

To put this second run in perspective to what my car might be capable of in better conditions with a good launch, there was an 02' EB Z06 than ran against me the second time. He had drag radials on stock rims and he ran
60 ft. : 2.080
1/8 : 8.419
1/4 : 12.812
MPH : 111.96

Even though I didn't run very low ET's, I ran very well relative to other Z06's. It makes me feel good that I was able to chase down and beat an 02' in my 01' and also trap a full 5 mph faster than him. I guess my mods have worked!! I look forward to going back to the track in better weather and see if I can't join the 11 second club.

Hey Steve!

Good times but I have a question for you:

Were you the guy over on the ZR-1 discussion section of some other forums talking how much quicker your car was stock vs. a ZR-1 but had never been to a track??

If you weren't the guy, then I *wholeheartedly* apologize. If you *are* the guy, I'm glad you finally got your car to the track and (hopefully) realized while the Z06 is an incredible car, it isn't that easy to turn a fantastic time! Good luck, with some better weather and launches, you'll do great. The MPH is pretty strong.

That very well could have been me over on CF. I have gotten into it a couple times over there. It was no secret to me that I am not a good driver since I have never attemted to launch my car before, so my times didn't really surprise me. I really just wanted to see what the car did in the traps. I'm sure once I get better at driving I will turn a better mph and most certainly better times. Also better weather will yeild better speeds as well. In time though.
