First Drag - First Run - Fun but EMBARASSING!

Ive learned a LOT visiting this web. Thanks to all the great threads I figured I would be able to nail down drag racing no problemo

As I rolled up to the tree I pretty much forgot everything Left the line at an idle then nailed it. Pretty much just fried the tires with little progress.

Speed shift into second.....WAAAAAAAAAAA Still no traction and now the rearend is starting to bounce. Just as I started to let up I hit the rev limiter . I didn't think it could get any worse.

So I grabbed third....what??? GUTLESS...aw crap, I hit 5th. BOGGGGGGGGG...

Blasted thru the lights at 90 MPH in 5th... : (

I can't believe how fast things happen on the 1/4 mile..and how much fun I had even though I really screwed up.

Glad you were a good sport about it......

The more time you spend at the track, the easier things will become. Just ask Powershifter, Ranger, etc.......

Hopefully, your next outing will be more fun with some better results for you.

I just checked my time slip and the ET was 14.499 Oh...and I was wrong about the MPH... I got 93, not 90.

I know I'll never live this down cause my wife got it all on video. In the background you could hear the announcer on the loudspeaker saying something like..."that guy better learn how to use his horsepower"..

Hehehe...ouch. But the idea is to have fun, and it sounds like you did. Now the idea is to go back and try again, and still have fun. I won't ask you to post the vid, although I would probably enjoy watching it.

Bro! It's not considered a screw up unless you do it 7 times in a row!

Glad you had a good time! That's what it's all about!

Try taking things a little slower and don't rush your self. It's more important for you right now to get everything sequenced right before. The speed will come along by itself. It's the repitition of doing things in the right order that will give you the confedience to do it faster. By starting out slower and doing everything the right way (not missing shifts, slower launch, etc..) you'll still beat tha 14.9! Good luck. Try to relax and have fun!

Don't feel too bad about your first time out, at least you did it! I am still getting up the nerve to go out and embarress myself like you did. I know it will happen and I'm just trying to come to terms with that. Bill

Congrats! Most people won't even try it. They want to, but are worried they break something or screw up.

Did you get Wifey to try it?
