First drag race in 2001 Z06

Went to the strip last night. Temp. about 80, I think elevation is 810ft, Kansas City, Mo.

Best run was 13.1, 111.94mph. Sixty foot time 2.185.

Worst was when I tried launching at 2400rpm and slipping the clutch. Will never ever do that again. Power shifted second and the freakin clutch stayed to the floor!!! WTF is going on. So I back off the gas but the engine went at least to the rev limiter. I could have sworn glancing at the tack that it went close to 7000rpm. Is that possible? Didn't seem to be anything wrong with the engine. Let the car cool and the clutch was ok, so I made a couple of more runs.

Best was launching under 2k and limiting spin. Only way to get better times is to get better 60ft times. Even when almost bogging off the line I got some spin in first gear. One lane of the track was clearly better than the other also.

I really wanted to get under 13.0, but maybe another day.

I've read of the clutch going to the floor before somewhere. Anyone here experience it? Hope its ok. Thanks.

Sticking clutch pedal

Sorry to say, the Racing board here gets very little traffic.

Here are links to threads on the other Forum that will shed some light on the clutch pedal sticking to the floor.

What will get your times down are launch practice away from the drag strip, shifting faster, and practice, practice, practice.

Good luck to you.
