Hey People, I need your help here. I am going to race the Z for the first time at Fontana this weekend. I have the new Halltech system, pcm tuning, MSD wires, TB bypass, 160 t-stat and stock tires. I have driven many manual f-bodies in the past, some w/ 425 rwhp, but never a vette. Any suggestions on launch rpm, tire pressure, etc?
BTW, I am set to go against an 03' Cobra w/ pulley, chip and cold air intake. I need to be ready!!!!
At Fontana on stock tires I would stay out of the water, drive around the water box. I would put the rears at 20-24 lbs and I would launch at 1500 and see how it goes from there.
I have heard they have redone the track since the last time I was there so things could have changed.
Make sure you run in comp mode. Do not run with TC off at Fontana. I have seen at least 3 vettes go into the wall there with TC off.
Wish we could go but since we just our new clutch done today it won't be broke-in in time.
I agree with 11 second Momma, do a 2-3 second dry burn, play with launch RPM between 1500 and 2200, play with rear tire pressure, I seem to do best at 24 PSI, +/- 2 depending on track prep. Keep the adrenalin under control (release the clutch, don't dump, and press the go pedal, do not stab) and you will do fine. Shift right before the rev limiter too. You will need all 4 to get through the traps.

I think you meant to say do not run with AH (active handling) off.
Comp Mode = Traction control off and Active Handling on
