One month owner here...A red Z28 was my first race.
I was at a red light and remember being a little nervous, because I had never had to launch the Z before (when it counted) and I could tell the Z28 had raced alot of times, I think his cam and rear tires gave it away. I launched at 2k rpms rode the clutch for a couple of seconds then nailed it and the F1's held, second gear pull, pull, pull-the race was over when I shifted into third-he backed off, as he falling behind quick.
There are very few feelings that would surpass the feeling I had during the conversation at the next red light when we rolled down our windows. The kind of conversation where a loser has to give you credit and compliment your car. It was great, his car was loping and I asked him if he had some work done. He said "heads and cam done and you." I replied, "bone stock". He said, "your car is nice and fast". We had some more brief conversation, but I could have stayed at that light all night, hearing from someone else how awesome my car was. Classic.
I'll never forget that or get used to it.
