First real race in the Z, quess what it was against....
.....an 05' C6. Lemanns Blue w/ 6spd tranny. I was cruising around the beach with my fiance enjoying our 65 degree weather and I noticed it, so I followed him out to the express way. He instantly aknowledges me and waves, I wave back. We are doing about 70mph. He jumps a little and then we hit it at the same time. He hung with me for about 1 sec or 2, but as my rpms climbed, I began pulling from him hard. About midway through 4th I saw his lights in my rear view window and would guess he was about 3 or 4 car lengths behind. It was an awesome race, no traffic. He tried a second time, with the same results. Funny thing is, there was an M3 that was supposedly racing with us, so it was a 3 way. I didnt even notice him. We stopped and talked at a grocery store parking lot after we got of the expressway. He told me he loves those ZO6's and wanted one instead of the C6 but he couldnt find one new. He told me he hung for a sec. but I left him pretty hard afterwards. Him and his wife were really cool.
I must say, the C6 is extremely fast stock. I dont think a stock ZO6 would beat.

From all accounts (factory as well as magazine test results)the C6 will be CLOSE to a stock 02-04 Z06, but with identical drivers the Z wins every time, by an average of .2 1/10ths.

Good kill man , but I have to say the Z is still faster even stock to stock! I had a run in with a black C6 and from a 70mph roll it wasnt even close. We were cruising next to each other and I knew he wanted to play so I was in 5th, and then he jumped it. He got about 5-8ft by the time I realized it was on and I downshifted to third. Once I hit third there was no contest. He didnt hang for a second at all. I pulled hard all the way to fourth and we came up on traffic so I cut over, and let off. I had a good 1-2 cars just from third to fourth gear. It opened up again and he didnt even try. All I have is a Haltech TRAP for performance, and it wasnt even close. It was a sweet looking car in black though, first black I have seen in GA.

They are starting to grow on me looks wise, but they are still kind of a softer version of the ZO6. I had my windows down and I couldnt even hear it.

How much power are you making HP/TQ? Thanks and good kill.
I dynoed at 407 rwhp but since then I got a 160 degree thermostat and RT high flow cats. I think now I am putting down about 420rwhp and 390ft lbs of torque. If we had kept going it would have been really nasty. With my setup, up over 4500rpm, my car was leaving him in a hurry. He said "you killed me man, but at least it was by another Corvette"
Great run, and great fun David!! Glad you won. From a 70+mph roll, it takes a lot of power to pull away easily. A stock Z06 from a standstill will win, but from a roll it will be a very close race with a stock C6. .2 in the 1/4 mile at these speeds is probably 3 car lengths...but from 70-120mph I bet two stock cars would seperated by no more than 1 car, if that.
I saw the C6 Z06 in person yesterday at the Detroit AS. It is nothing short of bada$$. It takes the softness out of the C6. The rear fender flares are awesome. It will be an incredible machine.
