First time at the track

Well last night was the first time I had the Z at the track in the two years I have owned it. I was not all that impressed. You can see most of my mods in my sig below, but I was also running a brand new set of 305/35/18 Nitto Drag Radials. My times were 13.03 13.06 and 13.36 and all the MPH was 112. My 60 foot is where the problem lies I think. I was going like 2.2-2.4 60 foot times. Any suggestions?

WPB Moroso sucks
What were some of the other C5's running?
If you did a search there are some good techniques on how to launch.

if you were running drag radials and if you lowered the tire pressure and if you did a good burn-out and if you launched at 4000 rpm or higher then you should have gotten a better 60ft time ... say in the 1.7 range .... then if you took the motor to within 200 rpm of rev limiter before shifting and then if you speed or power shifted without missing a gear then you probably should have run mid-low12s at 116mph...as you can see take lots of IFs all working together to get off a run that represents what the car can do vs what the driver does....consistency is very challenging as is "doing the right things right" ... first just focus on having some fun the other stuff falls into place with practice practice practice.

Well its always fun dont get me wrong. I just expected more. Moroso does kinda suck. There were only two other C5s one had heavy spray and he was in the tens, and the other was running 13.8 or there abouts and im not sure of his mods. I was running 16lbs in the drag radials, but they were not keeping the water box wet, so there was no where to really do a burn out. Most of my launchs were about 3000-3500 rpm, but I still got some pretty good wheel spin, in every gear all the way up to 4th when i was about to go through the traps. Never missed any gears, but was also not power shifting. Looks like ill have to try again Feb 5th for the corvette challenge there at moroso. Im gonna look into a line lock also.

HOLD EVERYTHING!!!!!
If there is no water in the water box, DO NOT drive up to it. Wait for a worker to spray some H2O 1st. Don't let the track workers laziness cause you to break your rear! I've heard of more then 1 person breaking their rear during a burnout. If they give you an attitude, complain to the tower. I was at the track recently & they did the same thing. I couldn't do a proper burnout due to not enough water. I just granny'd the run & next time around I told the kid to spray some water into the WATER box. Are they going to pay the $2-3 grand to fix everything. I broke on the starting line once, so I know what shxt costs back there to fix. You're better off not doing any burnout if you can't wet the tires first w/ DR's or slicks. If they dead hook...BANG....Mucho dinero...
Other then that, you don't have to powershift. Just shift real f'in fast right under red line & slip the clutch a little on the launch & watch those 60's drop along w/ your ET's... Good Luck!
