going to track... need tips

I think I might be going to the dragway next week with the Z06. This will be my first time racing. I need some tips for launching. I don't have any radials so its gonna be on the F1's. Should I do anythign to them or no? What about heating them up? I'm thinking I'll be launching between 2-2500 rpm. I'm guessing my time is going to be around 12.6-12.7 at first and hopefully I can get lower. My Z06 is an 01. What do you guys think I'll run?

I would drop the tire pressure down to about 25 psi first off. I wouldn't do a burnout either. Pull around the water and spin them just enough to clean them off. I'm not real good a the strip but, that stuff has worked for me so far. Have fun and don't be afraid to get out of it if you start to spin. You can always go around for another run.

No, it leaves it off, but it leaves The Active Handling on.

Joe

(There are some who are gonna tell you to run with everything off too)

As stated by FiveOJoe it will let you spin the tires but Active handling remains on....It will not effect your time but will save your butt if your car wants to go sideways and then who cares about your ET

When you launch don't just dump the clutch and hammer the gas.
Come out at 2500 like you are jumping into traffic and when you feel the hook it's time for the gas.
Speed shift 2nd and power 3 and 4.
Don't pay no mine to the car next to you, do your own thing.

Well I'm back from the dragway. The event was held in Lebanon Valley, NY. I guess a lot of people don't like that track too much but it was ok.

The temperature was nice and cool, around 59 degrees. My best in my 01 Z06 was a 12.9@111. I was running them a lot and couldn't seem to get out of them. I also ran one @109mph with a 2.2 60' but my best 60' was 2.0 and I couldn't break 12.9. I wanted to get below a 2.0 60' but I wasn't really heating up the the tires and I didn't take any air pressure out of them. I didn't feel like tearing them up too much since they are $300-400 a piece. But I had a great time and I felt like I did my best. My launches were pretty damn good for my first time, I was just expecting more like 12.7. Good times though. Thanks for the tips guys.

Oh and there was a 2003 Z06 there with an 18 year old kid who couldn't get lower than 13.3 But then again I am 20
