Goodyear 370 Qualifier Slicks and High Speed Track Fun
Ran at BIR last weekend with the slicks (25.5 x 12 x 18s all around) and can we say: STICKS LIKE GLUE!!! They stuck so well, I was worried about the wheels sheering off the car from the lateral Gs. Did 120+ mph entering turn 2, a flat sweeper, and still had the tire to tighten the line halfway through the turn. These tires on a Z06 are way more stick than I know how to use, but what a blast. The only scarry moment was when they started to shed built up rubber as I was nearing 150 mph on the straight (compound was a little soft for the track temp). The thumping noise from the rear of the car as the rubber hit the inner fender wells was a little troubling until I figured out what it was. The noise had my passenger begging me to slow down.
Forget Hoosiers, Khumos, etc., get some of these bad boys. I couldn't make the car understeer or oversteer. I came into one corner too hot, so I braked as long as I could before turning in and then turned in rather abruptly. The car slid sideways about one foot, restuck and off I was at full throttle. Here's to Goodyear.
Lonnie, I buy them used after a real race team has run them a few laps. They come from some guy in Wisc. who I do not know the identity of. A friend of mine gets them for me for about $75 each plus shipping. If you want more info. I'll see if I can get it. I squeeze them on 18 x 10.5 Z06 repro wheels.
It looks like they are saying to put these on a 13" wide rim?
Man you got a deal on those tires. I want to try some race tires at my next track event but I still have 17" rims in the front. What do you think about these tires?
Hey Rippied Z06- I was at BIR Monday and heard about the three day Corvette meet Monday AM. No wonder all the Vettes with numbers on the side looked at me funny-I was going the wrong way!
I had my Hoosiers on, 275f/335r and took turn one at 140, and came through turn two at 120-125, but that was a wild ride! I also posted a clip on the site. Maybe you could give me some pointers. That turn three is a pain! Like to hear more about the Goodyears, as the car pushes when driven hard as you know.

With the speeds you were running, probably not much I could help you with. What event was on Monday? What was the turnout and how many Vettes? We had about a dozen Z06s over the weekend and a total Vette turnout of about 80. The overall ftd was our club hotshoe that ran 3rd overall in this year's One Lap of America in his '86 Coupe with a TPiS 383 stroker. He beat a Viper GTS for the overall FTD at our event. Pretty sweeeet. What kind of lap times did you do?
Rippied.Z06- I was running best of 1:48's to 1:52's. Pretty cool Monday-only in the 50's. Tires were a little loose. The track was rented, not a specific event. There was a couple of C5's and a red Z06.
I notice at the top of the page of the above link, it said GoodYear F1 GS-CS. Are these the stock F1 Supercar tires for the Z06 or are they racing tires?
I have been using the slicks. The last set I got are the Goodyear 250 slicks. Being that I run B.P., I can use them for autocrossing. I personally can't say they work that much better than the Hoosier 315/18 for autoX. They take a little longer to get up to temperature. The great thing about the slicks is that I get them for about 90 to 100 dollars as take offs and they last longer then the Hoosiers. I hear you can get all you want for free if you go the race events. I believe they come new with 8/32 of rubber. I just would like to have a set of 17 front slicks that would fit on the stock 17 wheel. I presently am using the DOT Hoosiers on the front and it seems to work well as far as I can tell. In BP you have to run either the 16 inch wheel or the stock size rims and 16 will not fit on the front. They also make two rain tires. A half cut and a full cut. The half cut comes in compound similiar to the regular slicks and the full cut is a super super super soft compound. I run the full cut on the street. I only get about 1500 mile out of them but no body will beat you out the hole. It is hard to believe but they feel better in the rain than the F1 feel in the dry. I would not use them for any HWY driving or high speed on the street. I just use them around town. They should be great at the drags.
One of the biggest problems with these slick is getting them mounted. The guy that mounted my Hoosier and past regular slick spent 2hrs and he was not able to make them seat. I have only one guy that can do it pretty fast.

I have a set of those tires and they have worked great on AX. I was concerned about the longevity at a road course event. How many laps will they last before getting greasy? Also, how many sessions do you think they are good for? I've got the 370s and was very surprized by what I could do on a 50 second autox.

1:48 on Hoosiers is gettin it pretty good. You must be maximizing turns 1 and 2 for certain.
