Was looking at the schedule for the Northeast...where are the races?

I last raced SCCA in 79. Since then at least two tracks have closed (Bridgehampton) or stopped holding road races (Thompson). Just before I started ('72) two other tracks were lost (Marlboro and Vineland).

Still, we had a regional scheduled somewhere nearly every weekend. Ometimes two (at different tracks) on the same weekend. I'm not sure, however I think there were 10 nationals.

Now...it seems there are fewer regionals than Champ Car races. And just 6 nationals. In the old days that was the case only in the most sparsely populated areas of the country.

What happened?

There has been many tracks closed, Bridgehampton being one of the saddest. However, SCCA racing, especially in the northeast, is alive and well.

I am currently racing at Pocono for a double national, and the turnout is pretty good (300 racers).

The NeDiv has 9 national races this year:

• Summit Point
• Loudon
• Nelson Ledges
• Beaverun
• Lime Rock (twice)
• Watkins Glen
• Pocono (double)
