Heated windshield - road racing

Does anyone know of a vendor/manufacturer that offers heated windshields for the C5? In the interest of saving weight, I'm looking to ditch the entire HVAC system.

Can't specifically help you sorry.

I did turn my HVAC system into just a HV system...
It's a lot lighter without the AC half.

Did you happen to weight the components as you removed them? Since it's a royal PITA to remove the evaporator, I'd be curious to know its weight before I disassemble half the car to get at it.

Sorry, I didn't weigh the individual components. Actually didn't even do this myself... left it to the professionals at Phoenix Performance.

I'd think the evap is very light. Can't be more than a couple pounds.

I cut and pasted some info you may be interested in from a thread on the scca forums T1 section:

* Removed driver’s air bag (-3.5 lbs)
* Removed rear diff weight (-4.5 lbs)
* Removed AC/condenser/lines/oil holder/brackets/pulleys removal (-30 lbs)
* Removed/Swapped driver’s motors/brain/controller/seat belt click (exchanged the DR motorized adjusters with the passenger seat tracks. (Saved -13 lbs)
* Removed passenger air bag (-8.5 lbs)
* Removed titanium exhaust and replaced with straight pipes. Each exhaust was 14 lbs. Straight pipes were approx 9 lbs. Total of (-4.5 lbs) ea lighter.
Some others for the race:
* Dr side belt (-3.5 lbs)
* Interior fan motor (if no rain expected) (-4 lbs)
* Front Speakers (for race only) (-8 lbs)

Could also do the radio (2), rear speakers (?), engine dress covers (-2), horns? (-1.5)

Well, for anyone considering the notion of turning their C5 into an ITE or SPO car, the entire HVAC assembly (evaporator, core, actuators, motors, etc.) weighs about 20.2 lbs dry (you'll save the weight of the coolant in the core as well). I know this, since I just removed the entire thing and weighed it.

If folks are interested, I could post a photo of a disemboweled C5 interior.
