I took my stock perfect handling 2002 Z06 into shop and got negative camber dialed in front and rear. I think my car understeers now very badly. Perhaps I have to much negative camber in back and not enough in the front.
I need someone to tell me what a good negative camber is front and rear. Also, what are the stock settings? And finally, I didn't mess with toe in/out, and don't want to. I autocross and road race. Not daily driver. Going to Hallet this weekend which is why I need the help. Thanks anyone for the help!
This is the factory specifications for the ZO6, both '01 and '02. These are different than regular C5 specifications, so some shops alignment machines may not have the right databases loaded to show this:
Front Individual Toe +0.04 degree +/- 0.10 degree
Front Sum Toe +0.08 degree +/- 0.20 degree
Front Individual Caster +6.9 degree +/- 0.50 degree
Front Cross Caster within +/- 0.25 degree
Front Individual Camber -0.70 degree +/-0.50
degree
Rear Cross Camber within +/- 0.50 degree
For more aggressive track/street use, increase front individual camber to 1.0 degrees, and rear individual camber to .8 degrees, while reducing front toe to .06 degrees, and rear toe to the minimum (.01 degrees). This is a very drivable setup and increases mechanical grip noticably. Some auto-crossers will get even more agressive, setting rear camber at 1.1 degrees and front at 1.5 degrees, and toe-out the front at .02 degrees, but this will cause a lot of tire wear on the street, and make the car a little "darty" on regular surface streets, but makes them really grab on tight courses on marginal surfaces
This is what I got from previous posts, I think this is from the service manual:
LEFT & RIGHT FRONT:
Camber: Specified Range: -1.2 to -0.2 Optimal: -0.7
Caster: Specified Range: 6.4 to 7.4 Optimal 6.9
Toe: Specified Range: 0.15 to 0.25 Optimal 0.20
FRONT
Cross Camber: Specified Range: -0.5 to 0.5 Optimal: 0.0
Cross Caster: Specified Range: -0.5 to 0.5 Optimal: 0.0
Total Toe: Specified Range: 0.30 to 0.50 Optimal: 0.40
LEFT & RIGHT REAR
Camber: Specified Range: -1.2 to -0.2 Optimal: -0.7
Toe: Specified Range: -0.06 to 0.05 Optimal: -0.005
REAR
Total Toe: Specified Range: -0.11 to 0.09 Optimal: -0.01
Thrust Angle: Specified Range: -0.10 to 0.10 Optimal: 0.00

Thanks It L GO! Great help. My understeer problem at present is a major concern. After reading your numbers, I think my rear has a lot more negative camber vs. the front. Will ask dealer to day to set the agressive settings you mentioned. Thanks.
My understeer wasn't corrected until I went -2 1/4 degrees front with a 1/16" toe out at each wheel and -1 degree rear with 0 toe. I also backed caster down to 5.5 degrees. This was necessary even though I am running 315/18s front and 335/18 rear. Car tracks fine on the hwy and turns in much better. Tire wear isn't an issue as I wear them out at the track anyway. I street drive my car 12,000+ miles a year and these settings are fine. Z06s are understeering/pushing bastiches from the factory and they are much more of a joy to drive without the push.
Olsen and Rippie,
I track on C5 wheels with Hoosier Race rubber. My point for this was to not overload my stock suspension with wider stickies. I am a Drivers Ed racer. No points in the long run. Just bragging rights. My stock set up was great, but I found myself needing more grip at the limit and skid pad type turns. Yes I know, get Z06 rims first for more grip. Got any? Racing this Thursday at Hallet, my car is currently in shop getting the first posted "agressive" settings. Will certainly take your information in with me to the shop and use those adjustments. At least now, I will have a starting point from which to compare. Thanks!
Not picking on you here but I am surprised how many people get an alignment and do not get the sheet with the printout of the settings.
Always, insist on getting the before and after settings on the alignment sheet and keep it. Right now you do not know what you have.
I suspect the toe was changed. It would have with the camber change.
Good luck with it.
