holy s*%t 6.80s 204 mph

went to cayuga drag strip this weekend. a friend of mine has an 80 mustang that i help him maintain. pretty fast car,
302 bored to a 306. straight motor he has run a fastest of
10.6 at 124mph. he makes about 410hp rear wheels.

anyways i live in scarborough ontario and there is an area of kennedy road where there are a couple of heavy duty tuners
like psp who does mustangs and then there is
Straight line Racing. the owners name is andy rankin and i had a chance to see his 73 corvette. my god, what a beast.
if i am not wrong its a 540 cubic inch supercharged running on alchohol. He runs in the outlaw class i think.

i only got a chance to see 1 run which is where he pulled the
6.80 something at 204mph my highlight of my short day.

i would like one of these for christmas

there was supposed to be a vette and viper shootout, but it appeared to be a pretty poor showing. 2 vettes 2 vipers.
didn't see them go though.

one was a yellow z06 with ontario plates. he had a hard time launching. too much tire spin resulted in a very bad 15 second pass and a better pass in the high 12's.

there was also a nice 63 split window running in the 7's

sorry about all the non exact #'s i have the memory of an elephant.

and just to let everyone know, i think some of you may have me confused with another kingpin on another board. i am the one who admires and has loved corvettes all my life just not lucky enough to have one yet.

thanks

I was lucky to attend one of the NSCA events this year at MIR in Budds Creek Maryland..

Man if you didn't have a car that ran in the 8's or lower you didn't have anything at all.

Saw some cars run 6.80's @ 204 and some run 7's Lot's of 8 second cars. If you ever get a chance to attend one do so. Vetts and all..
