I went to track yesterday after getting my 422 in. I had 5 disappointing runs. It was very easy to miss a gear, so I had to really slow down my shifts.
In my trans am, i had a ripper and a drill mod, and could WING them into gear, very fast. In my zo6, I have a ripper also, no drill mod (I was told you cant do them on a zo6?), and cannot shift near as fast.
How can I speed up my shifts?
Best run was 2.0 60' 11.8ish @ 124
It supposedly dyno'd 475/466 and that was a not a full throttle run supposedly (?). Even so...475 rwhp in a zo6 should = higher than 124.
How much mph am I leaving on the table? That is slow as hell for what the car is, IMO.
shifting cant be that much worse on these cars. 3.42 are probably holding you down, you could benefit from a quicker 3rd and 4th. you probably shit into 4th and before getting towards the 5000RPM range the race ends.
Wango-No experience with the Ripper but the Hurst shifter in my Z06 is a winner! It has a very short throw with a tight pattern. With a little practice you can make extremely fast upshifts, and it is hard to miss a gear. Some of the other aftermarket shifters may be just as good, but I know the Hurst shifter works well. If the Hurst does not help, you may consider looking for a problem with the clutch. The clutches in these cars are a source of problems especially with a modded motor, and hard use. Do a seach on Z06vette for clutch problems before giving up on the Ripper.
You should be trapping higher in general but alot of factors come into play regarding mph. Including: weather,shifting,60',wheelspin. So, if your new to your car that's probably right until you get it dialed in. Goodluck.

I noticed some rattling too, which I thought was my shifter. Upon ataping, it was ~ .770-.780...which obviously is lean. The noise could have been detonation. However, nothing showed up on knock sensor, and the plugs looked good.
