On your racing harness (5 or 6 point) how do many of you mount them??
On my old teamtech it attached to the seat and a lap bracket. My guess is that wasn't SCCA legal though.
Was curious what others have done?

Either a harness bar, roll bar or cage.
The harness bar has issues for road racing, in that you are held upright with no rollover protection other than the stock roof. Evidently, the C5 FRC roofs are pretty stout and many do OT events with this set up. Also, it is commonly used for autocross...Regardless, this is not an SCCA club racing approved solution.
There are a number of roll bar or cage options. I've been looking at a 4 pt. which bolts onto nut plates, allowing removal. This also would not be legal for SCCA racing, but would give more peace of mind for open track events. The safest option would be a multi-point cage, welded in...fine if you don't use your car much on the street, but a PITA if you do.
First, if using the stock seats then you MUST use a 6 point harness.
Brey Krause has a Lap Belt Kit that allows the attatchment of a clip in 6 point harness and retains the stock seat belts (for steet use) with the stock seats. You also need a harness bar or roll bar installed.
Hardbar also has some solutions for stock seats and also for the installation of the Sparco Evo 2 racing seat. They also have a harness bar and Team Tech harness as well.

Forum member MySR71 is having Kurt at Phoenix install just the rear hoop and braces from the standard T1 cage in his car. They are setting it 1" forward from normal location and this will allow him to retain the stock belts. I assume he is going for a 6 point harness as well.
To be legal and before you install anything you need to check the rules of the sanctioning body pertaining to the class that you will participate in. What are your intentions??
Going to do a solo1 event end of this month. Getting Kirk bar installed so rollbar will be taken care of.
But need to get harness and want to make sure it is legal. I assume also I can use stock seat.
Geez! Everyone knows what everyone else is doing here, don't they!
My gut feeling is that MySR71's car will look really trick with that "back half" roll cage in it! Very serious, just the way I like it.
Arnoldir has actually been VERY helpful in answering some of my questions and offering suggestions about the work I am having done. Of course, you have been very helpful too David. Thanks guys.
Indeed, I am having a roll bar put in. It will be similar to the the back half of the roll cages Phoenix puts in their T1 cars. It will be a little different because I want to preserve as much rearward visibility as possible. My compromises will probably not make it SCCA legal, but if that ever became important, I could add a bar or two and put in the front half and make it a cage.
Arnoldir is correct. I told Kurt at Phoenix I wanted to keep the stock belts and be able to run harnesses. As a result, they will be moving the roll hoop 1" forward compared to their normal set up. When I take the car there for the install, we'll make sure that this doesn't put the hoop too close to my head.
The shoulder belts will obviously attach to the roll bar. I'm using the Hardbar Lab Belt Kit for the waist belts and 2 anti-sub belts (I'm using a 6-point harness) mounting. The 2 anti-sub belts will be going through the hole in the base of my Caravaggio Seats.
Silver,
On my full SCCA T1 prepped car, Phoenix drilled holes in the side rail for the outside lap belt, the tunnel for the inside lap belt, mounted the anti-sub straps to the floorboard via holes drilled in the metal bar running under the floorboard that the stock seat mounts bolt to, and mounted the shoulder straps to the roll cage. Pretty standard for a T1 car.
I know there are specific rules for the grade of the bolts for these mounts and the size of the washers, but don't have a clue what the solo I rules are.
Thanks Subdriver.
I don't know exactly either till my new rulebook arrive.
See the teamtech harness bolts to the front part of the seat rails for the front belt and for the lap belt attaches to a lap belt bar that attached to the seat brace (actually placed under it).
Having had one before I can tell you they work great.
However, I don't know if that is solo1 legal?
Would like to avoid the drilling holes in 4 areas if possible.
I have a six point Sparco harness. My shoulder belts go to my Crossbar mount and the lap belts go to my Brey Krause brackets that get attached to the seat bolts. I have snap type links that make the lap belts removable. Works for me.
