Just peel it off. If there is any residue you can remove it with NuFinish. It is easier to peel off if you wax the inside of you wheels - they also clean up easier.

Nothing seems to work on those smudges except mineral spirits and a scotch brite pad.
I must have some baked-on gunk or something because it just won't let go without a fight. The chunks come off okay, its the smears and smudges that are giving me fits.
Theres gotta be a better way. But once that crud is off, I'm giving them a coat of wax, but often wondered if the wax would last with the wheels getting as hot as they do.
I use Goof-off. A pump spray product fo und in the paint section of a hardware store used to remove dryed paint from wood and other finishes. I use it to get rubber rash off the paint and wheels after track events. It works great. But I'm sure it removes the wax .
