How do you power shift, is J-Rod around?

Ok I have gone to the track several times now and the best time I can muster is a 13.4 at 106 mph. How can I get this down? I know I am leaving about .3-.5 in my 0-60' time but I think my biggest gain would be in shifting. I had heard the z would run a high 12 with granny shifting so I have been doing that. Obviously it's not working to well so I am guessing I need to go to speed shifting or power (clutchless) shifting? How do you do this, I have tried and I can't do it. Is power shifting when you still use the clutch but leave your foot in the gas. I can't shift fast enough before the tach is in the red! Please advise, thanks.

When you power shift your right foot has the gas pedal pegged and your left foot is doing blips on the clutch while you are pulling through shifts. If done right it sounds like an automatic. When you do this you are IMO putting the trans through hell. Watch the Cartek run posted by Brent he power shifts like a Pro. Practice makes perfect.

427, If you want to learn to powershift this is what I would say to try. FIRST;practice with your car off and sitting still. You want to push the clutch to the floor and out AS FAST AS YOU CAN and at the same time pull/push the shifter to the next gear as the clutch is nearing the bottom of it's travel to the floor. THIS HAS TO BE DONE VERY FAST. IF and WHEN you can do this proficently, sitting still with the car off, then move on to the next step, doing the same thing but driveing at a steady 2000-2500rpm in first, hold the gas steady(don't move the gas) and do the power shift to secound. When you get comfortable doing that move on to 2000-2500 in secound hold the gas steady and hit third, then 3-4.The hardest part is over comeing that your brain is say NO<NO when you power shift. When you over come that it willstart to be easer. When you can do it proficently at 2k all the time you can move up to trying them at 62-64. But just practiceing this way will allso make your speed shifts faster as you learn to shift faster and you will start to see better et's. Hope this helps, be carefull and learn at your own pace. Good luck Ric

What were your 60' times? Every .1 improvement in your 60 will give you .15 at the big end of the track.

If I were you I'd concentrate on launching the car and lift throttle shifting at the right rpm. Your low mph tells me you're leaving a LOT on the table. Maybe you should get a shift light.
