How much pickup Hoosiers vs Toyo RA1s?

Was curious on a course like roebling or VIR how much quicker same size tires would be. Want to know what I am really going to look at picking up.

Also does anyone run the A compound hoosier at the track days or races?

Initially you will see 2 seconds per lap but more ....like at least up to 5 sec/lap faster once you get used to them.

Some of the T1 boys do use the A3S05's. The advantage is that they are almost ready to go after a turn or two (110 - 140) whereas the R's take 2 laps & scrubbing to reach nominal temps.

The down side is the A's will wear faster and if you over temp them they will blister and be toast. This holds true for R's as well but they have a much higher temp resistance (170 - 220)

Also the Hoosiers like & require higher pressures and more negative camber to be optimal.

You are referring to "shaved" RA-1s correct?

Correct.

I only run 1.75 and 1 negative camber front and rear due to driving to track on other tires then running on hoosiers potentially.

My suspension does have almost no body roll (t1 equal with stronger spring rates) so i would think I may not need as much camber.

Will that be to little for the hoosiers to work??

2-5 seconds is well worth the change in my mind.

also for starters may run them on stock z06 rims since my CCW's have nitto's mounted with some decent life left.

If I run 275/40/17 in front and 305/30/18 in rear on stock rims and issues vs. 305's all around. Major difference?
Ride height appears mild difference.

The Hoosiers need more negative camber on the track:
-1.8 to -2.0 Front
-1.3 to -1.5 Rear

You can easily have your suspension technician mark these and the street settings on you suspension adjusters. Then easily change the settings when you change your tires at the track.

You really need to think about having a larger tire on the front the 275's have poor grip and add to the understeer.

I recommend:
305/30x18 on 10.5x18 with 0.25" offset Front
315/35x17 on 11x17 with 0.25" offset Rear

Those are the sizes I will run 305/335 once my existing nitto's are spent. For now trying to maximize all tires and replace stock rims with toyo ra1 once these new hoosiers are spent and then run the bigger hoosiers on the CCW's.

Will be getting the 275/305 combo. Will let folks know how it goes.
