Not meant to start a flame.. But given equal Z06s, who gets around our famous road courses faster? They are both obviously among the best of the best....
Add other C5R Factory drivers to the discussion... If you put John on one of the factory teams, would it be a compromise? Or an upgrade?
You have to admit, it would be fun to watch....;-)

I don't usually speculate but seat time in a particular make and model car is often a great equalizer. John Heinricy certainly has the Z06 seat time but not sure about Ron Fellows. Although Ron certainly has great talent I'd have to go with John just because he's intimately familiar with the Z06. Again, I'm not sure about Ron Fellows and how much seat time he has in a Z. The C5R is not really comparable.
So the car would make that much of a difference? I understand the cars are very different, but basically 500 pounds of weight, 250HP, and way better brakes right?
If Heinricy jumped in a C5R with a few weeks of testing, would he be outclassed or competitive with those guys. I realize this is pure speculation... Same question for Ron.
In the wake of the Runoffs, it makes you wonder....
In the last issue of Car & Driver there was an article about Jeff Gordon driving a William/BMX F1 and that driver (I forget his name) driving Jeff's NASCAR Monte Carlo.
Both drivers were slower in the other's car. Jeff's times were not especially "slow," but he would not have qualified in the F1 field with the times he was clocking. I think that is just a function of his unfamiliarity with such a high-tech car compared to his car.
With time Jeff would get fast, that is a certainty.
Regarding JH and Fellows, I think the differences are much smaller than a F1/NASCAR comparison (obviously!). I do think that JH would have the advantage in a Z06, but it would not be a pronounced.
JH can flat out drive, I can attest to that. His winning Z06 was just recently a street-driven car that was taken in on trade at Phoenix's used car dealership...think about that for awhile. This guy is talented.

Have you guys forgotten that Heinricy was a C5R driver when the program got its start in '99. Ron could turn faster lap times in the C5R, but I believe Heinricy can turn quicker times w/ the production car--IMHO.

Juan Pablo Montoya drives the Williams/BMW F1 car along with teammate Ralf Schumacher. Jeff Gordon did surprisingly well in the F1 car though.
I did not know that. Thanks! Any idea if he got replaced, or did he leave on his own?
So somewhere between a C5R and a stock Z we would find the middle ground for a coin toss race?... Maybe a blown or H/C modded Z (500HP) with slicks ;-)
Kinda like picking between the '27 and '98 Yankees of Corvette Racing.
Anyone care to guess what Heinricy can run Sebring in with a T-1 car? I am trying to gauge what the "unthinkable" is...
Interesting quetion. I can through in a twist. When NASCAR goes out to find road racing specialist for the road races, how come Fellows, Said and Miller and not JH?
Good Point about NASCAR road racing ringers... Fellows, Said, etc.
Where is the Heinrocket on the ringer invite list?
Different cars and different tracks.. Too bad we don't have a track where both have documented times in the same car, preferably a stock Z.
Entering the world of fantasy...
Let's see... if David can get Reed to drive his car... If I prep up a T-1 car for next year, do you think I could get a waiver for Runoffs, if I could bribe $$$ Fellows to drive my car? Is there some kind of "no professional restriction" for VROs, or can anyone do it?
How about a waiver for all the Regional/National races? I mean heck-- the 12 hours of Daytona, or 24xLemans should qualify... ;-)
Anyone wanna guess on the amount of the bribe money? ;-)
What does NASCAR pay for ringers?
