Koni shocks

I was curious to hear what people who have upgraded to koni single adjustable shocks thought of them? Are they a lot stiffer than stock?
Also, is the Z06 version red or yellow?

TIA

Pete

I had them on my 97 coupe (that has a Z06 suspension).

I liked them. Great bang for the buck. With the rebound up full in the front, and about half in the rear, turn-in was great, car felt awesome. On the street, I ran them just a few turns up from full soft, and couldn't tell the difference from my stock Z51 shocks.

the Corvette Koni Sports are actually orange. (yeah, weird, I know - on most other cars they're yellow. *shrug*)

As a final benefit, they're about an inch shorter than stock, which gives you a little more suspension travel, especially for lowered cars.

Thanks for the help. Do you know if swapping the shocks on the Z06 is very difficult? Any special tools required?

I had the Koni single adjustable shocks in conjunction with VB&P front and rear springs. The only problem with them is the shock bodies are too long for lowered cars. (they are only 11mm shorter than stock) If you lower more than 1". They are primarily designed for stock height cars for this reason according to Koni.

Their double adjustable shocks (yellow bodies) are short enough but you have to remove them from the car in order to adjust the compression.

I've since changed to JRZ double adjustables with remote cannisters and coilover springs.

Changing shocks, at least to newer OEM style shocks, is pretty straightforward. Here's a couple of good how-to's:

Thanks No Doubt, those were some nice links.

If my car is lowered but does fine with stock shocks ('01), does that mean I shouldn't have any problems with koni's?

You should not have any trouble with the Konis single adj. Its just rebound and are easy to dial in. As for special tools. Some strong string to tie the shocks when compress will make removal/installing easyer. Thats about it.

With the help of those great links I was able to install the single adjustable Koni's without much difficulty - love those zip ties.
When the car was put back on the ground I noticed there is only an inch of travel available in the front and 1.5 inches in the rear.
Am I going to be riding on the bump stops? Unfortunately I didn't think to ever check the stock 01 shocks...

Pete

(car is lowered with factory bolts, no cutting of bushings)
