mostly when you really start worrying about weight your shedding no noticable time, but giving up all the conveniences you like. If your not racing competitvely or making a reality street racing dvd series. I wouldn't worry about the extra 100 lbs unless its in the form of cats, air system etc.
Now, dropping 100 pounds of rotating and/or unsprung weight would be really significant. On a C6Z you could drop 10 pounds off the front rotors, 7 off the runflats, 5 off of the wheels, 2 off of the calipers for 24 pounds per front corner. Although I have not seen the actual calculations, some say for every pound of rotating weight you save, it is like 4 off the car. It is hard to say, but this might be a full second or even 2 at a track with alot of corners like NHIS. On a track with fewer corners to slow down into and accelerate out of the effect would be less.
The old drag racing rule of thumb was 1/10th of a second for every quarter mile with 100 pounds less weight... We have found it to be amazingly accurate....
