Last MWC Race-New best laps at BFR-T1 competitor

Well, my racing season is complete (don't know if I can resist finding a last lapping day or so though). Competed in the "Looong Race" - 50 laps at Blackhawk Farms. My 8th race.

Since it was 1 hour 20 mins, and we needed to re-fuel, I split the drive. My instructor from w to w school in April was my other team driver.

I got many 1:19's - best was 1:19.1. Improvement of 9/10ths over previous best.

We came in 10 of 24 overall, 4 of 11 in class.

I was 2.4 secs faster than my instructor We were 2nd in class when I handed off. Not trying to sound too full of myself, but it was gratifying to drive faster than someone with his pace / experience, in a same car comparison. My class -ASR - has very loose guidelines, so everyone normally slots in on car capability as much as driver ability.

There was one metal to metal incident, luckily no metal to fiberglass issues.

Now, there was a T1 guy who ran a 1:17.4, so there's still room. Of course that suspension is a big advantage - next year I may have it and we will see.

Nice race Aaron. 1:20, wow, that's a lot of race. Did you have to do anything else other than driver swap and fuel? Tires and brakes hold up okay?

Nice job running 2 seconds a lap faster than your instructor.

What are the suspension limits in your class? T1 suspension is very nice, but there may be other options if you aren't limited by the rules.

Mike Tracy Sr., he's in the Chicago area with me, great guy, his son has a Radical CSR. He helped me out with spare calipers once when I was in a pinch. Good people.

Yes, winter is not good.

Tires and brakes were fine. Brakes were all new (front calipers, pads and rotors all around heading into the race). Tires (Hoosiers) had 2 races and 2 qualis on them.

The good (and bad) thing about the class, is there are few limits. I think I am going to finish second overall, and next year, I may go for 1st. Program planned :

1) T1 sways (not sure about springs, shocks)
2) c6z06 brakes (if available)
3) Vararam, cam, headers

nice going, aaron! do you know approx race distance in miles? i'm just curious since your hoosiers seem to last a bit longer than mine. my R3S04 fronts are basically done after a weekend at putnam and a weekend at RA.

I beleive I have done 3 qualis and 3 races, including the long race. total would be ~250 miles and they are still looking good, lasting longer than I expected. They seem to have quite a bit left. Are you running max camber? If not, maybe that would help.

Regardless, they sure stick versus the Toyos, don't tehy?

Aaron

ok that seems about what i got out of mine... 2 weekends is equivalent to ~350-400 miles. one of my front tires is showing signs of cording on inside and the outside, middle is pretty worn out too so I think I got camber just about right at -2*F. But, of course, it's very much track dependant. yeah the hoosiers grip much better than toyo's but last less as well. my last set of toyos went for 7 or 8 track days plus quite a bit of street miles and still had life (although no stick) left in them.
