Lowering the T1 Suspension

I've read that the T1 package shouldn't be lowered too much as the shocks don't have any more travel than the stockers and will bottom out. I'm OK with this as I'm looking into some custom short body Bilsteins.

The question I've got is relative to something else I've heard; the T1 front spring doesn't allow much lowering. Is this true? I'm not looking to "slam" the car, I just want it to ride at the same height with the T1 springs as it does right now with the factory FE4 springs at the bottom of their factory adjustment range (with no bushing cutting), roughly 1" lower than stock.

I'm not worried about not fitting into any particular racing class as this is primarily a street car.

Is this possible, or will I find it's impossible to lower the car with the T1 springs in there?

Help is appreciated!

The T1 spring is a stiffer spring with the same recurve as the OEM; therefore it will have a higher ride height than the OEM spring.

If you are NOT going T1 racing then you might consider using:
-VB&P Extreme spring which can be ordered in many more different rates than a T1 and has a better recurve and is lighter
- Penske DA shocks
- VB&P Poly Graphite bushings
- T1 sway bays with teflon lined end links

I just sent a couple of threads To The Top.

They may answer your questions that are very similar to mine.

This will hopefully save DJ and others some wear and tear on the keyboard. They must get tired of the same questions.

I know with my T1 spring, it can be lowered in the same manner as the stock spring. It doesn't have rubber bushings below it, but a hard plastic, maybe poly, bushing which is thinner than the three stock rubber bushings. Although my T1 spring has almost 30 races on it so it may be flatter than a new one, I know I can lower my car to the point that the tires hit the fender lip on compression. I can get it down to less than a 1" gap from tire to fender.

DJ posted several other good options that might be better for your use.
