LS7 Z06 shift points

I am taking my pro street 32 truck to the track Friday night. And I was wondering what the ZO6 shift points are. What do you guys shift at when drag racing?

OK, let's see, the LS7 is redlined at 7k, rev limiter is at 7100, try shifting at 6800. In my H/C 346 stock bottom end C5 Z I have the rev limiter set at 6800, and I try to nail my shifts at 6600, if I do that I barely nick the rev limiter on the 1-2 shift. If I do that consistently, I'll get a decent run every time. (the 1-2 shift on the C6 with all the torque from the 427 will be very tough to nail because of all the wheelspin which will make it VERY easy to over-rev and hit the limiter) Just get to the track and get some seat time, that's the key,,,practice, practice and more practice!

Thanks Jim. The rev limiter has been moved up, & I will be running 29.5 x 10.5W slicks. So spinning an the limiter should not be a problem. I am also running a turbo 400 auto tranny with manual valve body. With a 4800 stall.

With the auto and that much stall in the convertor, that car is gonna haul ass! Please do post up some times and pics of the truck after you get to the track.
It's great to see people using the GenIII and IV motors in street rods!

Good luck and have FUN!

Re: LS7 Z06 shift points

Well I have two different PCM's to try. One did OK at the track. But runs like crap on the street. It Keeps giving codes PO300 & high idle codes. The other one runs great on the street, no codes, but kept shutting down at the top of low gear. Plus my tach RPM must be off from the PCMs RPM. Because it liked 6400 shift points, I tried several different shift points. But 6400 worked best. The truck ran 6.30s in the 1/8 mile at 105 MPH. I will try and get some pictures posted up soon.

If you are running a '08 HUD equipped Z06, put the HUD in Track mode. When you need to shift you will get an arrow flashing to indicate change, before you hit the limiter! (On my set up between the oil temp vertical readout and the speed.)

That easy :-)
