Memphis in March - MidWest SCCA Season Kickoff

All,
I begin my quest to become the SCCA MidWest Division T1 champion this weekend, March 20-21, in Memphis at Memphis Motorsports Park.
http://www.memphismotorsports.com/

Offseason Maintenance:
- New calipers
- New front wheels bearings
- New front lower a-arms
- New rotors
- New pads (using Carbotech XP10 front and XP9 this weekend)
- All fluids changed out
- New spark plugs
- My first alignment (another story for another thread)

Offseason Upgrades/Purchases:
- Simpson Shark Sidewinder helmet
- Hans device
- FAST helmet cooling system
- In car to pit radio system
- Scale system
- Alignment tools (camber gage, toe plates, laser leveling system with plane mode for "stringing" the car)

The car is washed and waxed, new decals are on, she is ready to go. The house is full of relatives here to help and enjoy.

Income to debt ratio: Not improved.

Testing the car Friday, practicing Saturday morning, qualifying Sunday morning, racing Sunday about 1:00p.
Hope to see some of my fellow Memphians at the track.

Rob,
Practice was open today. I only ran twice.
First time out I took it easy to fully bed in my new Carbotech XP10 front, XP9 rears. Next time I pushed fairly hard with a race fuel load.
All in all it went well. I ran 1:14.7, which is 0.2 faster than my fastest race lap last year. Since this was on old tires, I'm pretty pleased with the results.
FYI, the new pads felt great. Good initial bite, but very easy to modulate.

I'll practice Saturday about 9:30a. Regional races are Saturday afternoon, but I'm sitting that one out. Brad White is running, and there are five total Z06s here.
Sunday qualifying is about 9:00a and the race should be about 1:00p, more or less.

Brad,

Is this weekend a regional or national race?

Carbotechs, huh? Sounds like the Army got to you and convinced you to change!

BTW: I am jealous you are out playing this weekend; I have to wait two more weeks to go to Summit Point.

David,
Dual weekends at most of the MidWest Division events. Regional Saturday. National Sunday. I sat out the Regional today and watched and helped others.
I actually used Carbotech for all of my Nationals last year, including at the runoffs.
You think I'd let an Army guy tell me what to do???

Practice went very well this morning. Turned a 1:13.2, almost a second under the track record. We'll see if I can do that tomorrow. Sunday is supposed to be very cold. Something like 35 during qualifying, warming up to low 50s for the race. Brrrr....

Good luck Subdriver. With a bit of luck I'm sure you'll win divisional championship and possibly the runoffs.

Another Flag

Brad Neff won the MidWest SCCA National today coming first of four T-1 Corvettes. He also ran a full second under the previous lap record in class. Obviously, a great start to his second year!
