Had fun at the Mopar vs world event at Atlanta Dragway tonight. Despite all the smack talk only one Viper (Eric Jordan) showed up.
Man was it HOT!
Eric Jordan had the misfortune for me to get a new personal best E.T. when we lined up - over 90 degrees, literally no VHT on the track and I managed a 12.160@116.59 MPH on a 1.924 60'. I am very happy with that run. Eric had me drive his car, that was fun but MAN is a Viper hard to drive fast! I only managed a 12.8 or so
For the night I took an easy run with Buzz, managed a 12/4 without trying and it was 96 degrees so I am thinking tonight is a good night
Second run was against Optic. The idiot in front of me had his A/C on, dumping water all over the track. I got sideways, shifted 1-3, still managed a 12.6 but to be fair Optic won.
We both let the cars cool down and made a 3rd run, (still over 95 degrees, 90% humidity) here it is:
............Les......................Optic
R/T........944....................839 (we were both asleep)
60'.......2.042................2.115
330.....5.420................5.476
1/8......8.113................8.150
MPH....92.21................92.98
1000..10.412..............10.435
1/4.....12.352..............12.367
MPH..115.98...............115.09
Very close, Optic said he nipped the rev limiter (I think on the 3-4 shift), but all I can say is "who's your daddy" now!!!
4th run was against Eric (see above)
Last run was against a 440 GTX, I ran easy (12.5) and went home feeling GOOD that OPTIC no longer can BRAG that I NEVER beat him

Les, sounds cool.........but, hot.......
Eric has to be one of the coolest Vipe guy's ( next to Norman) on the planet.......
That dude is a credit to ALL Viper owners.....and car lovers.........
Great times in BAD*#% conditions to say the least........way to go.........
Yes Yes LES I did nick the RMP limiter that is why my 1/8 mph is higher than yours, then I tagged the RMP limiter just a bit and the run was gone and you got that one. So for that night I won one and you won one and the funny part was you were happy and didn’t want to go for the tiebreaker. Like I said you were about due for a win. I still couldn’t let you have the lowest ET of the night so I put the 75 shot in and let your blue daddy loose to the tune of a 11.6. Yes I got a last pass and that was it. My best et and mph off the spray is below:
60 2.001
330 5.341
1/8 8.019
MPH 92.59
1000 10.35
1/4 12.23
MPH 116.59
The two cars are very close, I guess it is time to take my cats off like you, I miss the sound!!!!!

Les,
the cool thing about Eric is he ALWAYS tells the truth, and doesn't sugarcoat anything.......what you see is what you get...
His monicker should be "No excuses Eric"...............
Maybe one day he will get a Z, or at least join the forum here.......
I'll mention this forum next time I see him. He posts on the other forum, but not very often. Class act.

Optic got to the lights first (I red lighted the previous run - didn;t want to do that again). Down here the lowest E/T wins unless you are running bracket.

Les, I diden't think it was possible to figuer out a way to reduce a real drag race, to bench raceing.smack Nice runs but the winner get's there first, without a red light. Don't ask what my light was in the first round this week.................407 I LOST . Bracket or not, who ever get's there first WINS, Brackets just level the field for experience and mods. IMHO Ric
Maybe it is local custom, but I can say without hesitation that all NHRA and IHRA racing that I do down here in heads-up competition it is the best E.T. that wins, not who gets to the light first. If that is the way you race up there OK by me - I usually cut .51X lights so I will take the advantage when I race elsewhere
That same night I raced Buzz, lifted for a moment because I though he had gone in the wall (a guy was doing a John Force burn-out). I got to the lights first because I cut a much better R/T but Buzz had me on E.T. - so he beat me - I congratulated him on his first win against me.

Excsue me.................a stoopid mod, and not a drag racer........
But, in WHAT scenario would a race EVER be determined any other way than E T???.
He who cross's 1/4 mile line 1st ( unless bracket racing)wins.......at least so I ASSumed??.
Ric..........
I am severley confused.......please clear theis up for a fellow OLD furt'.................
If I scanned the 1/4 mile slip that we get here there is no "winner" listed like there is in Bracket racing. So if I scan and send it one could, theoretically do like Ric did and see that Optic had a better R/T than I did greater than the 1/4 mile E.T. difference and assume (correctly in this case) that he beat me to the light, even though I had a better E.T. and MPH.
In drag racing the E.T. timer doesn't start until you trip the light. In theory I could sit there and let the other driver get half way down the track before I begin, and so long as my E.T. was faster I would "win" in a heads-up class. In bracket racing it is the guy who gets to the light first with the closest total time to his dial-in time (without breaking out) that wins. I hate bracket racing - period. It encourages someone to hit the brake before the end of the run if you are ahead to be sure you don't "break out". To each their own but I prefer heads-up.
To the extent that drag racing is supposed to be like street racing, only legal, Ric's argument is correct. It doesn't matter how long or how fast you got there, only that you got there (light) first. The tracks around here don;t do it that way, it is always the lowest E.T. in heads-up that wins. Why they do it different is strange to me, and as I said if I need to I can cut .5XX lights all day long. I suspect that removing R/T from the equation makes the car-to-car and driver-vs-driver comparison more fair, since R/T variance can be the difference between winning and losing (as is often the case in brackets, since the objective is to level the playing field) and with heads-up you want to drive the fastest car.

Les, If I offended you I am sorry. NHRA and IHRA and any other santion body who ever gets to the finish line first WINS!! in heads up. Z06LS6, I prefer heads up raceing, but brackets are what is available to the hobbyest. I tryed to race IHRA Puer Stock this weekend, but you need to submit tech sheet with all motor spec from GM, we got most but were then faced with 15,000 production recuirement.(no one said santion bodys were fair or they couldent pull a rule out of there hat) What we need is a grass roots swell of e-mail to Mike Baker at IHRA(compition and Tech Director) The index for A-Pure Stock is 12.25 with an 8lb per HP floor.(other things can be modded on the car, but we will go into that when we can run) That is a way for all of us to race.
