Despite Being Extremely busy for the 2nd week in a row, the weather was a lot cooler and it felt like the Z was running good.
On the bad side, i couldn't cut a good 60 ft. to save my life. Felt like there was 0 vht/track prep on the track. Prep was really lacking! (but then again when is it not)
Anyway...
had three runs...and they went like this:
1.)
60ft.........2.19
330ft......5.25
1/8et......8.44
1/8mph...86.45
1/4et.......12.85
1/4mph....112.63
(could not get the shifter into 3rd gear on this run)
3.)
60ft............2.23
330ft..........5.57
1/8et.........8.33
1/8mph......90.60 (first time hittin 90 in the 1/8)
1/4et.........12.62
1/4mph.....114.90 (soooooo close to 115)
Car is still STOCK. I have the hurst shifter in the car but am thinking about taking it out, im not sure if i really like it that much. I never had a problem getting into 3rd with the stock shifter but this hurst is a PITA sometimes.
After seeing my 60ft.'s you can see how i said i could not cut a 2.0 to save my life. Runs were done at Carlsbad. If anyone has seen that track, or been to it, you'll understand why my 60's are so bad.
Momma: someone said they talked to one of the workers at carlsbad yesterday, and they did not put down little vht on the day before, which is why everyone was spinning badly.
Kat:
do u know if the altitude is the same? You said it hooks just as good, if not better than C-bad, maybe thats gonna be the only good track to go to if C-bad shuts down...

MSL: Approximately 635' 194m (estimated) off web site. I think Carlsbad is like 300+.
We have only been there once and yes the traction was better. That was the first time in my life I got bog in the SS and Didn't know what the heck it was That was the same day Chris broke his rear and we had to tow him home
I've had two cars on Famoso several times at all times of the year(except Dec. and Jan.). What you found at Famoso is an abnomaly. It is typically not good for hard launches and many times can be bad all the way down. E/t streets or slicks is normally your only chance and even then most people complain. Street tires can be a joke, with DRs barely better. But having said all that, the track has been decently prepped TWO times that I have been there, at least for the first 100ft. My totally stock ZO6 ran 12.35@114.11 w/1.88 60ft on F1s, 12.36@114.08 w/ 1.92 60ft. back to back. The car still spun hard in second and barked hard in third, no powershifting. Conversely, I've seen Famoso so bad that in the exact same configuration I ran 14.1@109, same time of the year, similar conditions. So I guess it's like having that one great hole in golf that keeps you going back. Don't get me wrong, I am thankful for having a facility so close, but it can be like your on grease and be very frustrating.
amerikan: Thanks for that writeup. Thats an impressive 60ft you cut with the stock tires. I was thinking about going up there, but i just hope that when i do go up there, they have laid some track bite on the track the night before.
