A new best ET
As some of you know from previous posts, I sold my vette. However, I still have my malibu. My buddy and I took it to the track yesterday. Conditions were fantastic 57 degrees, 52% humidity, and barometric pressure was @ 29.32 and no wind. First run off the trailer it ran 11.16 at 122.8 mph. Car ran good and I decided lets hit it with a 150 shot of NOS. I flowed the the fuel on the nitrous side to make sure everthing was ok. I armed the nitrous and the car started to smoke from under the dash. I assume there is a short somewhere. Of course I was pissed because now the oil pressure gauge, volt meter gauge and electric fan are not working. We then made an executive decision to let the car cool to 100 degrees put 2 degrees of timing into it. Next run I red light and no time slip. I immediately get back in line. The car felt extremely strong many people came up and said did you hit it with the nitrous it must've launched the wheels at least 18 inches. I put 25lbs of air in the right air bag. I launched the car a 4000rpms on foot brake this car does not have a transbrake. Launch didn't feel as strong. I pull into the pits my buddy comes running back. The car turned an 10.92 @ 123.33 mph. First time ever in the tens on motor. Didn't get a chance to make another run a bike blew up and oiled the track.
What do you guys think? I have the capability of running up to 200 horse shot and still be safe. I think with ideal conditions this thing will run mid to high 9's with 200 horse shot. Oh did I mention this is only a Gen I .060 350 chevy that was built with swap meet parts. The only major item that is new are the heads (Brodix Track 1's). We also raced @ probably the worst track in michigan Lapeer. Yes, I am happy as hell.
