New Goodyear D.O.T. Racing Tires

Heeeeeeey guys, anyone have "Hands-on" experience running the new Goodyear racing tires? These are advailable in stock Z06 size for High-speed tracks.

Looking for something that will "last" a little longer than Hoosiers!!! These are to be used for DE events, not full competition.

They are Product code 108-176-901 front, #108-172-901 rear.

Comments please!

These are the GSCS F1 DOT tires. I spoke to the Goodyear racing rep about the new tires in Z06 sizes, as I am looking at picking up a set of z06 wheels for my FRC. I've been running these tires at DE events this past season in my stock sizes and really like them. They don't last appreciably longer than what I hear from people running Hoosiers, although I have no personal experience with the Hoosiers.

The tread pattern for the Z06 sizes are different, but the comounds on the Z06 tires are the same so the rep told me where would be about the same.

I love the tires on the rack and intend on picking up another set for next season.

Hope this helps a little.

I think John Henicy uses these and has won 3 of the past 4 T1 SSCA Titles so so food for thought.

I ran a set of the GSCS tires toward the end of this year.

Camber
-1.8 front
-0.8 rear

I don't remember the cold starting temps (34F,33R I think) anyway, I ended up with hot pressures of 44F and 42.5R. Most importantly, the tires wore quite evenly. It was a 3 day event with one of the days running open track (no sessions) all day, so there was a _lot_ of track time. It appears that I used up almost half the life, but won't know for sure until there done.

Better than the F1 Supercar tires (although I still say the stock tires are absolutely amazing). I have not run anything else so no comparisons to others.

In the end, since I am not competing, I think I will stay with the F1 Supercars. The difference in performance is not worth the extra expense. Besides, it's fun to see the expression on the 911 TT guy's face when you tell him you are running street tires.

Hey Jeff,

Do you think the Super Cup tires will last long enough to cover the higher initial cost over the GSCS tires? Just curious. Staring to plan for tires for next year. My GSCS tires are shot now. I'd appreciate hearing more about your experience. I assume you ran these with the Audi Club event?

Hi Bryan,

Yes, with the Audi club event.

F1 Supercar (F) $247.00x2 $494.00
F1 Supercar (R) $279.00x2 $558.00
$1052

F1 GS-CS (F) $208.00x2 $416.00
F1 GS-CS (R) $230.00x2 $460.00
$876

Since I have not corded the GS-CS tires yet this is just a guess, but I think the F1 Supercar tires last about 2-3 times longer than the F1 GS-CS tires.

I'm working on my 2003 budget as well. I have two sets of Z06 wheels, so If I go with a set of the GS-CS tires I will need to put a set of the Supercar tires on the spare set of wheels to use in the rain... so

1052 + 876x2 (maybe 3) = 2804 (maybe 3680)
or
1052x2 = 2104

If I stick with two sets of the stock tires, I can go all year and have 95% as much fun as with the GS-CS and save at least $1K.

O K, I promised to get back to you after tracking the new Goodyear "GS-CS" tires.

I now have 3 days at Road Atlanta with these tires. Day 1 was a week ago Saturday at a Corvette event... also my 1st day on Road Atlanta's track. It was very cold with temp. at 40 or below until 1:00. Cold track with cold tires... we had three major crashes.... so the track was slick! Ahh turn 12 scares me some... I'm feathering in 3rd gear!

My car stuck fairly well in the morning after allowing for a couple of "warm-up" laps, tires were still too cold to really push hard. We probably got air temp. at about 50 by 1:00... but track was still cold... high wind blowing. Tires were still "a little loose" during the high speed time trials, but I clicked off 1:49 both times. When pushed hard in corner "1 " the rear end would "walk" with tire shake... not really hooking up.

This past week-end was a two day event... temp's. never got much above 42. Again in the morning the track was slick...we had a wreck each day during the very 1st run.

The tires were now "scrubbed in" and by early afternoon they were "hooking up" in the corners. I still had a little "shudder when pushing hard"... but the tires were sticking and Singing!!!!

Given times posted over on the other board... it looks like lap times dropped to 1:43 and change.... very respectable running in traffic on a cold track. Ahh... still feathering in 3rd thru turn 12, but now at better than 5000 RPM.

Over-all they seem to be at least equal to Hoosier's, two other Z06 Vettes and a couple of Porsche twin turbos were on the Hoosier's and I was able to run em down. The people who should know are saying the Goodyears are probably a little better, and 1 of them is a Hoosier dealer.

Now let's see how long they last. Currently, they have almost 400 miles at Road Atlanta and look like there's still better than 50 % life left. I'm off to VIR in Febuary and will report those results after the event. So far... I'm impressed with the GS-CS tires!!!
