From what I understand (everyone I know does this) is to put it in Competitive Driving mode, this will eliminate the tac control from coming on when you launch and in between shifts. But at the same time if you managed to swing the rear out, you'll still beable to gain control of the car with the active handling.
The above advice is correct.
1. The car will always default to AH ON/ TC ON when you start it
2. For drags, AutoX and Road Racing you will want to hold down the console button for +5sec. (seems like and hour) to go to Comp. Mode. Comp. Mode turns OFF the TC but leaves the AH ON. I would advise you to run it this way until you get used to the car and its characteristics.
3. When you are comfortable with the car then you can turn both AH and TC OFF.
4. ALWAYS and I repeat ALWAYS run with AH ON in the wet and rain, on the street and on the track.

Good advice (as usual) DJWorm. Please expand on 3. above. Tell me any DISADVANTAGE of running with AH on.
For drags there may not be any disadvantage. However there is for AutoX and Road Racing. It sometimes prevents you from throwing the car in a corner or using power to rotate the car in a corner. You can still do it but the AH will be trying to correct, using the brakes and slowing you down.
If the AH comes on during a drag it will use brakes to correct and it may slow you down, it may also save your ass. It would be a matter of preferrence. Sometimes under hard acceleration you can have a lateral moment due to torque as well, the AH will try to correct that.
I didn't think about the actions of intentionally powering the car through a corner during AutoX and/or road racing. I now see that there might be a disadvantage to AH.

02Z06... SpeedDemon is right. Everybody that drag races with us put it in comp mode. As a matter of fact, at cecil last week, I was headed for a good run (1.96-60'). As I hit 2-3 shift, the rear got real squirrely and was coming close to the wall on the right. AH came on, and saved my ass from hitting the wall. Ranger saw this and asked me about it. Nobody I know will race without it on! That wall is pretty unforgiving.
