New Hoosier Tires Available

Hoosier has just released their new DOT race tire. The new A3S04 and R3S04 will replace the previous A3S03 and R3S03

Modeled after an F1 tire the new ones will be slicks with 2 equidistant longitudinal grooves. The advantage is better turn in, higher cornering speeds, better wear, better response and more consistant performance.

Sized from 13-18"

Your correct,

They do not have the sites updated as yet

I have been told that the new Spec Miata tire is very similar and there is data on it on the Hoosier site.
http://www.hoosiertire.com/rrtire.htm
SCAN DOWN ON THE LINK TO-------> 10/8/2003 News Release.
Also they are debuting the Spec Miata at the RRC at Road Atlanta in November. They may possibly have info on the release of the -04's there or soon after.

There is also a small news item on p.168 of the November '03 GRMS mag.'s Tech Forum. It has the same picture and alludes to the same performance improvments as does the Hoosier Spec Miata news release above.

I just didn't want anyone to rush out and buy new -03's then find out the new -04's came out a week later.

I am sure if you call Hoosier or Tom they will have more info.

DJ, I was talking with Dave Gardner of Hoosier Tire this past weekend at Nelson Ledges. My size (315 17s) are not available right now. However they will be soon.

I plan on trying all three makes (Goodyear, Hoosier and Kumho) in the early spring to see what ones I like the best.

I will do this probably on a Friday at N/L. You are welcome to join in on the fun if you want.

The closest size on TireRack is:

305/30 18... they also ahve 335/30 18's for the tubbed boys.

no 35 profile sidewall except in 275 sizes.

For the front we have:

275/40 17 or for guys running 18's on the front (stock width rim) maybe 275/35 18.

Would these sizes work? This looks like a very cool tire!

Pete M viper guy and porsche/ grand am racer ran them on his porsche last weekend. He said he improved his time at cmp by 1.5 secs, but when they wear out, they are suddenly very slick. Here are his comments;

Hi Gang,

I haven't been here in a while. Hope you all are well.

I spoke with Jeff at Nationals this year. He said the new tire will wear better with no expected change of rubber compound. They will be a little higher priced but should be better than the A3S03 between 20 - 40 runs.

The "old" Hoosiers will probably be discontinued and sold for 40-50% off.. that is another option
