For a long time the NHRA street car rules like "you must have a roll bar for any convertible running 13.99 and quicker" and "you must have a driveshaft safety loop" are now dead. These reflect the changing times i.e. safer cars from the factory and w/ the rise of street racing it makes the track more accessible. Now you don't have to have anything extra untill you're < 11.5.

I still believe you have to have a helmet for 13.50 and under ... or is it 12.99 and faster??
You're correct, our local track requires a helmet @ 13.9 and under. But I think it's up to the track. Beach Bend doesn't require a helmet until under 11.5, cool for us at the Fest!!
The roll bar change is a good ruling, IHRA has been this way for years! Let's have some fun kids!!!
The NHRA "stock" 11.50 rule for the rollbar is just what it sounds like: a STOCK car. I mean 100% stock. If the tech-in sees drag radials, air intake, headers etc....you're still under the 11.99 roll bar rule. The helmet rules have not changed.
Do a search. Someone posted the link to the exact rules not that long ago. It's a move in the right direction, but by no means a sweeping change for most of the "bolt-on" runners.

I'm a newbie here as my first post, but I do know some info about the new NHRA "Pure Stock" (not Pro Stock) Class.
NHRA's new Pure Stock class is for street-legal vehicles that run 11.50 seconds or slower. Pure Stock Street Legal rules are specifically intended for street-legal vehicles that are production stock, as manufactured and sold by the original automobile manufacturer. You can add a few minor mods, like K&N intake, cat-back exhaust and even DOT Drag Radials. But that's about it. No power adders like a blower (unless your car originally came with it i.e. SVT Cobra, Lightning) or Nitrous. These extra mods will bump your class into the ET Street bracket.
For more info, click on the link below and print out this page to hand out to your next tech inspection if your car meets the Pure Stock criteria. Hope this helps and good luck at the drags!
