NHRA rules on Fire Jacket?

If you are running 11's at a NHRA track is there a special SFI rating the Jacket needs to be? or does it just need to SFI rated?

I'm on a d/u at home and I'm to lazy to d/l the rules

Well any SFI jacket will do, because SFI 1 is acceptable at 11.99 and that's the lowest rateing. A good quality SFI 5 is a better chice IMO. Ric

I've run several 11's at KCIR and they never said anything?

Rules inforcement is up to the track. Yes NHRA requires you to wear an SFI 3.2A/1 jacket if the car runs 10.00 to 11.99. Get a jacket before they pick up on it. Ric

We just received the RJS firejackets that are rated 3-2A/1. It's more like a fire windbreaker. Very light.

It's attractive and well-built for what it is. They were $45. They have racing stripes, badges, and a little American Flag to boot.

Good value! (ie - I'm a cheap bastage)

Bad point? No cigarette pocket, so I can't use it as a smoking jacket at home. Pity.

The last track I ran at, you didn't need anything unless you were running under 10 seconds!! Including a helmet!!

CA has a unique set of problems right now(I'll be baaak) I can get my camal's at BJ's for 36.xx, Wallgreen's drug store want 46.xx there try to save me from myself? But NH has them for 27.xx at a conveniance store, as luck would have it,right on the way to New England Dragway!! Winter is going to cost me in more way's than I care to think about. than I care to think about Nice jacket, but you will find than even that your jacket is 'light' it will not breath as well(it's hotter) as 'good' SFI 5. Ric
