Over the weekend, I participated (along with Jim Lembo) in a NASA two day event with HPDE and Time Trials in Pueblo, Colorado.
I was running with my street Michelin Pilot Sports as the weather was iffy.
On my last session, I found that a Viper had painted itself to my rear bumper. Respectfully indicating that he should pass, he declined. Then it dawned on me that he wanted to drag the 1/2 mile long straightaway at Pueblo Motorsports Park.
So here's me with 3.15 gears and street tires and this Viper with full race rubber and 3.90 gears. With multiple witnesses from the tower that included several NASA instructors, the Viper got to my rear quarter panel, but no further, and finally backed off at 123+ MPH before the entrance of turn one.
To add insult to injury, I was ferrying a passenger, Jim Lembo's daughter, Lauren. She just squeeled with glee!
Good one ...
This is track, not street ...
He must have "seen God" first ...
Agreed.Nevertheless,if the guy thought he was at the edge of his personal envelope, backing off was the smart thing to do.I'm not about to ridicule anyone for that.Too much ambition in the first place is another matter.

This is a true "kill story", and it was at the track. I blew by
a bunch of "rice balls" on that same straightaway and got black flagged for it. I guess they thought my car was too loud! Man, I wanted some of that Viper real bad, but they wouldn't let me back out on the track with that group, hmmmm, wonder why? Regardless, I still had a blast, and many thanks to Bill for giving Lauren a "thrill ride" in his Lingenfelter Z, she was grinnin' from ear to ear when they got back to the pits!
Jimbo
p.s. I was a bad boy on Saturday, so I had to be on my best behavior on Sunday and couldn't take Lauren around the track myself.

I worry about you on your "best behavior" much less when you being a "bad boy".

Hey Steve, I got in -car video of the whole thing, and when I get it edited, I'll get it hosted and you can see for yourself how much fun it was, and that I actually did the right thing. Fun stuff!
