The fifth annual Audi presents Petit Le Mans will again be the season finale for the American Le Mans Series, and takes on added importance since the race winners earn automatic bids to the 2003 24 Hours of Le Mans. Four champions will be crowned - LMP, LMP675, GTS and GT - following the 1,000-mile that has a 10-hour time limit. Help celebrate Corvette's 50th anniversary!
An added bonus to the Audi presents Petit Le Mans will be a 5-50-100 Anniversary Celebration Party on Friday, Oct. 11th at Road Atlanta.
Come help us celebrate the fifth anniversary of the Audi presents Petit Le Mans, the 50th anniversary of Corvette and the 100th anniversary of Cadillac! Following Friday's full day of racing, two fun activities will provide additional entertainment.
First, there's the annual Johnny O'Connell Charity Auction, with
proceeds benefiting the Guest House in Gainesville. The Guest House is a senior citizens day care center for Alzheimer's patients and their families.
Starting at 6:30 p.m., there's a concert featuring the Atlanta-based band "The Worx". They'll play a mixture of feel-good Americana music that will have you dancing in the aisles.
Food and beverages will be available at our concession stands, and you'll want to stop by the Showtime Sportsbar and check out the other sporting action.
You'll want to be at Road Atlanta all day Friday to watch the five
support races, including the SCCA Trans-Am for the BF Goodrich Tires Cup. This is the first time since 1999 that Trans-Am has raced at Road Atlanta. Other Friday events include two SCCA SPEED World Challenge races, Star Mazda and Formula Ford 2000, plus final qualifying for the Audi presents Petit Le Mans.
Also on Friday will be the American Le Mans Series Drivers Autograph Session from 11 a.m. to Noon, and the Trans-Am Autograph session from Noon until 12:30 p.m. We'll also announce the 2003 American Le Mans Series schedule Friday.
The Audi presents Petit Le Mans gets the green flag at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12th. Saturday's preliminary race will feature the Panoz GT Pro Series.
Corvette Racing and the Corvette Marketing Team are pleased to announce that Corvette owners will have access to special parking corrals at the remaining Corvette C5-R races in the American Le Mans Series (ALMS). This special parking will accommodate approximately 100 cars and will be available to those driving a Corvette on a first-come, first-serve basis. Food and beverages will be available in the corrals courtesy of several corporate sponsors. So come cheer on the Corvette C5-R's to victory and make sure to get there early to ensure a Corvette Corral Parking spot!
