Had the pleasure of touring Pratt & Miller Engineering & Fabrication, Inc last night. For those unaware, P&M builds the Chevy Racing C5R cars that won the 24 Hours of LeMans two conscutive years! They also won the 12 hours of Sebring, and completed a three-peat in the Petit LeMans at road Atlanta!
Other awards: ALMS GTS Team Championship: Corvette Racing.
ALMS GTS Manufacturers' Championship: Chevrolet.
ALMS GTS Tire Manufacturers' Championship: Goodyear.
ALMS GTS Driver's Championship: Ron Fellows.
ALMS Mechanic of the Year: Bill DeLong

P&M has a modern, full resource 35,000 square foot facility in New Hudson, Michigan, and we were allowed to see just about the entire shop and fabrication areas! They had both Yellow C5R cars on site being preppped for the March 15th 12 Hours of Sebring. What I especaillly enjoyed was that one of them had both doors, hood, and rear hatch off, exposing most of the inner detail! Absolutely amazing!
They were also building the cars for the 24 Hours of Lemans! Seems everywhere I looked, body parts, frame members, brake components, transmissions, OZ racing wheels, engines on dollies, on and on!
Had the pleasure of meeting two other members, Tack Da Boat, and SixtySevenMan! Two good guys, who also seemed very impressed with the tour.
I guess we had close to 100 members (Corvette Club of Michigan) enjoying this special behind the scenes look at a truly professional Corvette race shop!
Many thanks to Gary & Robin Pratt, Russ Craighead, Steve Wesoloski, and the Corvette Club of Michigan for taking time from their very busy schedule to share all this with us!
Zippy
