Private Driver Ed at Hallett on June 5th

I've rented Hallett raceway in Tulsa on June 5th and am looking for a few more people to go with me. We are limiting it to 35 people and have the track rented from Friday June 4th at 6:00pm to Saturday June 5th at 6:00pm. With only 35 cars you will be guaranteed a lot of track time. We currently have 25 confirmed and are looking for 10 more. I am posting this here and on Supraforums looking to fill the last 10 spots. The first 10 people to PM will get the spots and I will give you the payment instructions. The club that is putting it together is out of Little Rock, Arkansas and is made up of a lot of different cars from BMW's to Honda's to GM. There is even one Ford Lightning going to give it a shot. So to sum it up.

What: Private 35 car Driver Ed at Hallett
When: June 4th to June 5th
Where: Hallett raceway right outside of Tulsa, Oklahoma
Who: Just a bunch of people that love to drive cars.
How Much: $95 a driver
Don't worry about having track experience because there are alot of guys going that have never been on a track before. There are also some experienced SCCA track guys going so there will be a broad spectrum on the track that day.

PM me if you have any questions and I will be glad to call you with more information. Remember, only 35 cars for 24 hours on the track. You will get tired of driving you car before your time is up.

Thanks,
Thomas

I guess I was hoping that more of you guys would jump on this. I would love to have a bunch of Z06's there to make it a little more entertaining. Should I move this to the General Discussion forum for more exposure or would that anger the Moderators? Let me know. Thanks.

Wish I could make it, I need more seat time there.
I'll have my first race there May 15-16 so this won't help me much. And I have a race in Topeka the same weekend. Sorry.
Good luck getting some people together.

Thanks. I think the people will come. I think that it will be a blast. Not very often will people get a chance to get this much seat time over a one day period.

Hallet is a blast!!!!

I am selling my car and will not make it.

But as many of you know I always like to say the best mod to make your Z06 go fast is seat time on a track period. Cheap too.

I hate to bring things down on street racing, but going to the track is where the Big Boys and Girls Play and the Children play..., well on the street.

So come out and learn to play with the Big Boys and Girls. Hallet is one fun track!!!!

Just one guy. Apparently there aren't any fast car track drivers on this website.

If anyone is interested, the deal has changed a little bit and we will be sharing the track with the Skip Barber driving school and the price has been lowered to $60 a driver.

PM me for details.

I'm sorry. I'm scared! I can't afford to fix anything that might get broken so I only participate in driving activities that my insurance will cover.
But on the other hand I am considering this offer very seriously. I would love to learn what my car will really do.

Ok, I'll pm you for a request about the details.

Check with your insurance company and see if they will cover "Driver Education" days on a track. Some will and for that reason, we are calling this a "Driver Education".

This will be fun because we are all just regular guys and are going out just to have fun. It will be a huge variety of cars from Hondas, Trans Am, Miatas, VW's, a couple of Vettes, Lightnings, and the list goes on. Some of these guys have never been on a road course before and some have lots of experience with road course and autocross driving. Don't let the road course scare you off. You can go as fast or as slow as you want and no one there is going to say a thing to you about it. Just have fun.

Good point!!!

Leave you egos at the grid as there are going to be with folks in Spec Miatas that will blow by you, because they know the track and know their cars.

A word of advice for new timers just because you have an awesome car does not mean you know how to take it to the limits. That is why people do DE's to learn to take the car to its limits.

First thing you need to ask yourself is what is the line of the course? For example ask yourself can take the "bitch" at full throttle in 3rd. You should be able to with no problem. If you don't know what I am talking about go out with someone with experience and they will show you the line, turn in, baking zones, etc.

My first experience at Hallet I when out with someone who knew the track and I was running in the race group. After two sessions I was running some fast times.

For the first session on my second lap, right after the "bitch", I went off the track. I figured that I was no going to make it, so rather then trying to save it I went straight off and zero damage to the car. I got right back on the track and off I went. This was a result of experience from other tracks. At the end of the day full throttle in third. What was interesting I when out with a fellow who raced for Alfa in the late 70's. He was impressed how I handled the car in the "off" situtation.

I watch others in the less experince groups try to save it after the "bitch" and they did damage to thier cars hitting the tire walls.

Just remember experience is a teacher and to have experience you need seat time. Never seen anybody who has never been to a track before set track lap times. It just does not happen. I would think everyone would agree a Brain Surgeon its one going to do his first operation fresh out of medical school. Driving fast on a race track is not a God given talent. The patient to practice is the God given talent.

There is nothing more exciting then knowing the course and blowing by everyone who have taken their egos with them out to the track.

Instruction and seat time, and seat time, and seat time is the way to become fast.

Experience folks who have never run this track, come with a new set of brake pads and rotors cause you are going to use them.
