Quarter Mile Feedback**Please**

Ok...So I've done alot of SCCA road racing over the years and have been quite competitive...Never really have given much respect to the drag racers...Well...I had my first experience with it this weekend and I have a new found respect for the quarter milers!!!

Milan Dragway - - Michigan
94 degrees
very humid
greasy track (many classes running)
a full tank of fues
32psi rears
32psi fronts
170lb. driver
Zero experience!

'nuf with the excuses...here's what I ran before we were rained out..

1st Pass
1800 rpm soft launch
.608 Reaction
2.009 60ft
5.598 330ft
8.474 1/8 mile
10.900 1000'
12.952 1/4 ET
110.27 MPH

2nd Pass
1800 rmp soft launch
.560 Reaction
2.190 60ft
5.806 330ft
8.6894 1/8 mile
11.109 1000'
13.183 1/4 ET
108.99 MPH

Is there any hope for me??? How can I go quicker??? Any and all advise is VERY MUCH APPRECIATED!!!!

I love this car!!!

Bring rear tire pressure down. I go with 24-27lbs. I have been putting the trans in second for a burnout to heat the rears (don't do this anymore due to high cost of tires).I like a soft launch also. Gotta feather that clutch also (this will produce clutch smell and after too many, the dreaded stuck to the floor clutch pedal) as you smoothly push on the gas. As you head down the track, keep foot on gas as you shift (powershifting-I usually do it at 6100-6200rpm so you don't hit the rev limiter)My 01 Z06 was to 12.34@113.50 and a 1.84 60' (stock tires)with T-1c and Hurst. I'm working on this on my 02 without any burnouts and waiting for cool weather. These beasts love the cool weather. Also, before you hit the track, do some hard acceleration to get the pcm to "learn" that you are going to be driving it real hard! Good Luck!

Take a look at my thread- "Went to the track last night- OUCH!" and you'll see I'm in the same boat.

High heat and humidity KILL power. That, and it really does take some serious "seat time", ie, practice, to drag race a stick shift well. I had gotten pretty good at it with my 98 TA. and was on the verge of 11's when I sold it, but the Z06 is definetly a different animal. It'll take some getting used to.

Prescott63,

What day were you at Milan last weekend? I was there on Sunday and saw a Torch Red Z06 take two runs before the rain came? Was that you? I Had the EB with white stripes.
Man it was hot and humid there...

You have great reaction times considering that it was your first time.

Extracrispy...

Yes, that was me in the TR on Sunday. I thought I saw an EB in paddock area. I think I'm gonna give it another whirl on Friday or Sunday. Hopefully the weather will cooperate this time. Was a pretty miserable day for HP.

Perhaps we can hook up at the track (pun intended).
