Race only brake pads...?

I'm looking for some race only brake pads for a zo6. I know there is hawk, pfc, and carbotech... Which ones are the best,, or actually the cheapest.(They still have to work well of course). Where can I buy them for the best price?

I'm not sure on the answer to your question but, a friend of mine ran his Z06 last weekend at gingerman and used hawk Blue's and boiled his brake fluid.

Basically I think if your going to higher temp pads be prepared for fluid issues and possible caliper issues as well (alot of guys change the pistons in the calipers from heat).

If you are looking for the very best I would suggest Ferodo DS3000 pads but have no clue where you would get them in the USA. They are used in NASCAR, Indy and a bunch of other pro races.

www.ferodo.co.uk

They are true race only pads, have just about the best friction performance you can get and have a thermal barrier layer that reduces significantly the heat transfer from the pad/rotor to the caliper/fluid.

I had a set made for me (nil stock of Vette sizes) and they cost around USD$400.

If you want cheap, you'll need something else but buyer beware (you get what you pay for). If you want to do serious racing please don't by the cheapest. Try and pick something mid range. I'd hate to see you wreck because you saved $100 on cheap pads.

I believe the Hawk Blues or PF90 or 93's are about as "cheap" as you'll find for a real race pad...$140-160. I know the Blues are tough on rotors and have heard the same about the Performance Friction pads. I've used the Blues in the past and have found them very good. Either way, Motul 600 or another high temp brake fluid is neccessary, regardless as to whether you run race pads or a HP+ type pad.
One of my friends is running the SBS ProRace Dual Carbon pads in his Mustang track car and swears by them. Much more rotor friendly, in his opinion. A little pricey, but he's getting really good life out of them.
I like www.bsrproducts.com
Here's a couple of other sites I've used for pads:
www.cobaltfriction.com
www.raceshopper.com

I run Hawk Blue's on the front, HP's on the back, stock rotors or lately have been using the Raybestos rotors-works great! No issues at all, I do bleed before EVERY event and use ATE super blue

I use PF97 pads. They work great; they and the rotors lasted 4 hard lapping days.
