Ran a new best @ Etown tonight...twice!

Well, it was my 2nd time to the track with the new RPS clutch & my Supermax headers...The 1st time in the cool weather.
The DA was between -600 & -1000 most of the night.
Since I added the FL headers, RPS clutch & retune to my existing Vararam & Et Streets, I set optomistic goals..Short term was to run an 11.5X, long term was to run an 11.4X....
1st run I do a monster burnout & stage. I launch at 5000 rpms. The car hooks up w/ no spin. I sensed a decent 60' as she caried the nose pretty well. Bang the gears & finish my run. I pick up my slip & was pleased for my 1st pass of the night. 60'-1.75
11.62 @118.78...This run tied my personal best. I was excited because when ever I race I do better each successive run. I get a 2nd pass 20 minutes later. This time I launched at 5400rpms. The car spins a bit as she leaves and carries the nose again. I hit 2nd,3rd & MISS 4th!!! Now I'm livid because I knew I had a good run going. I curse aloud all the way to the ticket booth. When I get the ticket I'm expecting an 11.8 or worse...Boy was I wrong!! 60'-1.658
11.54 @115.66...I missed 4th gear & still ran a new personal best!!! I couldn't believe what I was looking at. I can only imagine what this run would have been. I figure a good .15-.2 was lost on the missed gear easily...Now that would have been a run.
Now I was psyched! My next run was not for another 40 minutes. Again I launched at 5400rpms. She spun a tad and carried the nose, but then she felt like she lost it a bit. I roll thru the gears & didn't expect much. 60'-1.678
11.55 @119.03...Better then expected!! I want 1 more shot at a good run. Unfortunately, there were several oil downs, & my next & last run was not for 2 hours!!! I figure this isn't going to be pretty. It was cold & a long wait. Once again, I launched at 5400rpms. The car again spun a tad as she left, but carried the nose all the way out nicely. I rolled thru the gears expecting a good run. 60'-1.694
11.52 @118.85...Another new best!!! I was happy, but actually thought an 11.4X was going to be had. That's how good the run felt, however, NO complaints from me!!!
So I've met my short term goal quickly, & knocked on the door of my long term goal....Still haven't trapped 120mph yet though....No powershifting was done either.
I just want to thank Chris & Doug @ ECS, as they've done ALL the work on my car........All my mods are as I stated above...
Hopefull at the "no tears, no excuses rental" I'll have a new best to report again.

Ron

Those times are outstanding. I think you would have got 11.4X with that run that you missed 4th.

What exactly do you have done to the car? I miss E-Town so much. Moroso just doesn't cut it

Miguel

Nice going again Ronnie! Those strong 60' times are lowering your mph and et streets in general will lower mph as well due to more rolling resistance. On drag radials and a 1.80 60' time you would probably trap 121mph with your driving. Just my .02.

I know Rob, & thanks again. But, I did trap 119.x on the ET Streets, even before the clutch & headers...just not too often.

Congrats Dr.Ron, supurb driving as usuall. Once you get the bugs worked out, 11.4x for sure and probably better. I don't see why you won't be producing 1.5x 60'ers? Good luck on your quest. I'll be adding ya to the bolt on list.

Congratulations on a great night! Sounds like it can only get better from here.

With you as the mentor and Don as the student, he'll be doing much better a lot sooner than he expected.

Good show doc!

Charlie

Charlie,

Ron can flat out drive...talk done. The amazing thing is that he's not only great in the 1/4 mile, but in August when several of us joined Bad Machine, Backlash and Chris Coriell from ECS on a roadrace course at Pocono Ron proved his natural ability there as well.

CONGRATS!!! I had an RPS clutch in my 300ZX TT. I still remember the first time I chirped 3rd in it.
